Fun fact: GT is ranked 130th in offense. This means if you combine the GT men's basketball and football programs, there's 0 programs nationally that do worse when it comes to scoring points. I think Pastner's crew was in the mid 300's in offense. The football team is now stone dead last.

Autocomplete is becoming a nightmare for me. I type in Open Thread and it tries to autocomplete and every football/hoops open thread title for the past 3 years. It may be time to tell Vivaldi to get amnesia.

Lol, I'm bad enough writing with or without autocomplete, I have no room to talk.

FSU gets the week off before they face Clemson in Death Valley. Clemson the paper Tigers are a shadow of their 2018 selves.

Does this mean you're predicting a monumental upset next week? 07-coffee3

Maybe so, but which side of the scoreboard?

RE: Open Thread - 2019 Football - Week 6
WR Jalen Camp had season ending surgery and will redshirt. OL Kenny Cooper is also now out for season with surgery and will redshirt. This takes the GT football team down to 5 available scholarship seniors. That's a hell of an attrition clip from a signing class. Down to just FIVE members of that signing class available. JFC. You wanna talk about PJ wiffing on recruiting one year....

Also the offensive line is down to 9 available scholarship players, 2 of which are redshirts that have never played.

Yet we've scored more and held other teams to less points than after five games in 2018. 2018's first five games included a FCS game and a game against a G5 team. In 2019 we've already played four P5 teams.

Just have to treat this as year zero. Collins is working with one hand tied behind his back roster-wise this year. He had a good class last year considering the shortened recruiting period for him, and is building an outstanding class this year. I don't know what your scholarship situation is but if you have some available I'd be hitting the transfer market hard as well.

With the redshirts from Seniors due to surgery he's already 2 to 3 over the limit for next year. I suspect some players, particularly on offensive line, are going to be told they're not ever going to see the field after this season if they couldn't make it onto the field this season. They had 4 or 5 who fit that description who transferred out last cycle. Apparently they expect quite a few more this cycle.

Regarding transfers .... he's already dipped into that market pretty heavy.

This cycle:
Derrik Allen, S, ND, 4*

Last cycle:
Jared Southers, OG, Vandy, 3*
Myles Sims, CB, Michigan, 4*
Antonneous Clayton, DE, UF, 5*
Marquez Ezzard, WR, Miami, 4*
Tyler Davis, TE, UCONN, 3*

He signed more 4* players through transfer in those first few weeks on the job than Paul Johnson managed to sign in an entire decade. Sadly, about half these had to sit since they are on the wrong side of the NCAA slamming shut the transfer portal.

If you're going by raw talent and measurables ... the roster after this season will be better than any PJ had after 2009 when Collins' '07 class won the ACC title and then the crucial parts went pro.

RE: Open Thread - 2019 Football - Week 6
Syracuse is hosting BYE this week. Not much a rivalry here, SU has never lost to BYE, the record is expected to remain intact. Attendance will probably be down for this sleeper of a game.

BOLD PREDICTIONS FOR THE GAME:

1) DeVito throws no INTs this week
2) The O-line has little problems with blocking, both pass and run block
3) the D pitches the second shut-out of the campaign.

But, but the narrative is:

Four SEC schools and tOSU should be ahead of Clemson in the playoff this year.

The UVA display is precisely Hokie colors.
