RE: Open Thread - 2019 Football - Week 6
The officials in the ACC I believe are actually corrupt. You can’t be as bad as they are without trying. The problem is we make excuses for them; “they were bad for both teams” or “we should have just played better and then the bad calls would not have mattered.” These guys have little incentive to get the call right and seem immune to punishment. You would think the NCAA would at least have some quality control.

RE: Open Thread - 2019 Football - Week 6
Banner Society had this to say about ACC football this weekend:

Quote:The conference of the week. The following happened:

Miami turned the ball over on its first four possessions (three interceptions, a pulled starting quarterback, and a fumble) and was down 28-0 to Virginia Tech with six seconds to go in the first half. They then hit a Hail Mary, came all the way back to tie the game at 35 in the fourth quarter with three touchdowns in about three minutes, and lost.
Puke-and-rally Pitt blew a 23-point lead to Duke before springing a four-play, 82-yard, final-minute victory drive.
Boston College and Louisville combined for 1,227 and 80 points in a game that came down to a last-second fourth-down stop by the Cardinals.
And the only “normal” game was coached by ... 68-year-old Mack Brown.

and this about the Big Ten:

Quote:The Fox Broadcasting Company, by Jason

When Big Nude Saturday features a Big 12 game, you get 60 points all at once. When Big Nude Saturday features a Big Ten game, you have to spread those 60 points across all of Fox’s games for that day, like so:

Michigan 10, Iowa 3
Nebraska 13, Northwestern 10
Oregon 17, Cal 7

Hey, at least now we know what the "Ten" stands for -- points per game!

Now Michigan will probably be ranked 3rd in the AP poll after that [cough] "big" win.

No, 4th... Florida will be 3rd.

Auburn beats Kent State by a wide amount and we get our scheduling criticized and the game barely mentioned. Wisconsin beats them and it is lauded as a benchmark of the Badger's defensive streak of having 3 shutouts this year, albeit against very weak competition, for which they are not called out. It's all about the spin.

Look's like I was right when I said it was likely there would be much higher misses for the winners this week. Truly there were a lot of pick'em games and couple of surprises.
