TV broadcast today said that Chance was healthy and that coach indicated he hoped he would be able to get him in there today. And then he didn't. I support our coach, and totally understand that he is an established and accomplished quarterback's coach, but I haven't understood the choices he has made with our quarterbacks since he has gotten here.

I don't know how good Wofford is, but I love watching that style of football. I far prefer that to a spread offense.

I had a 53 Studebaker that didn't sputter as much as this Buc offense.

Thrasher has to be one of the most snake bit players I’ve ever heard of. The only luck he’s had is bad luck in his career. I wonder if Sanders is thinking he’ll be gone after this year and not worth investing in. Is Wheldon going to stick with us?

Good question. What is the status of both these players?

Joe Newman, SENIOR. Started all 13 games in 2018. Sure showed today - 24 rushing points. Much to be said of having stability at QB, obviously. Can Sanders settle the QB issue and at least have a winning season? Who is successful with multiple quarterbacks plus going the transfer route at that key position?

RE: Official Game Thread: Wofford
I was at the game yesterday, after watching games on TV. I was impressed by the overall atmosphere and all the improvements and changes to the campus.

I have made comments on the poor playcalling or game planning by what I saw on TV. Being about 30 yds away from the action on the field and
observing the game live, I am more convinced than ever that the offense is handcuffed by atrocious playcalling.

The first quarter playcalling was awful, total of six plays, four runs off tackle, two pass plays with QB being blitzed. Defense held for three series but finally started to wear out as the offense only had the ball four minutes. Same playcalling in second quarter, same results, Wofford 28-3. Bucs managed 53 yds and it wasn't because of QB play. Wofford had eleven guys within 6 yrds of line of scrimmage. There was no way to run right at that defense and yet Sanders continued to call off tackle plays.

After getting halftime rest, defense completely shut down Wofford the third quarter. Sanders finally started to throw the ball on some 1st and 2nd downs for good yardage and that opened up the run game and the Bucs scored to twoTD's to get within 11 points. D stopped Wofford again and Bucs had the ball at midfield early in fourth quarter. The Bucs had scored on two straight possessions by abandoning the totally non produvtive run, run, pass game plan to an aggresive, pass on 1st or 2nd, or both but for some reason, with the ball at midfield and the Wofford D on their heels, Sanders went back to the non produvtive run between the tackles on the first two plays and lost one yd, short pass on third down for a yard , terrible play calls, Bucs rally killed, game over.

For those of you that continue to think the QB is the problem, I still disagree, especially since I saw the game in person. Sanders has said repeatedly on his coaches show that he has to get the ball into playmakers hands, he has a package for McQue and teams are daring the Bucs to throw. Well yesterday, his play calling once again was the opposite and it put the Bucs in a huge hole and wore out the defensive.

As for the QB, even under constant pressure and in 3rd and long situations, he put the ball on the money except for one high throw, the receivers dropped five balls and fumbled one after a catch. Bucs threw only one deep ball and that went for 42 yds, one throw to Holmes for a 26 yd TD and one sweep to Saylors for 15 yds. Other than those, nothing but short outs and off tackle runs.

Fans around me were disgusted, some left at halftime, most left after that awful early fourth quarter series. Couple of fans continually yelled at Sanders to "run the ball in the middle, that will surprise them".

All and all was disappointed in Sanders playcalling and his refusal to adjust to the defense.

I must say I am coming around to agreeing with this. First we have to say the atmosphere and stadium are first class FCS level and second to none. But the game played out exactly as the opponent wanted it. The first half made it easy for Wofford to operate. The defense could have stopped them(after that first drive) if only the offense could get nominal yardage and first downs. I think our talent is as good or better than any in the SoCon. We did not play Ohio State yesterday. We played a team we should have been able to beat. That goes for VMI and Furman also. Is this the best that Coach Radar and Sanders can come up with? We have one of the best O lines in the conference two of the very best rbs in the conference. It is not a lack of talent. Are they capable of getting the offense to play up to their talent level?

RE: Official Game Thread: Wofford
Food for thought.

VMI passed for 315yds and 2tds against Wofford.. Normal for their pass first offense.

The kicker, they ran for 230 yds and 3 tds.

Over 500 yds and 6 tds. Obviously their OC knew how to attack the Wofford D.

Wonder if our OC watched their game tape?

My wife just chastised me for not mentioning the Buccaneer Band. They were not just good, they were outstanding. Hats off to them.

I also wanted to comment about the band. I am one that usually dislikes a football marching band, and its one of my least favorite parts of going to a game. However, they are very good this year and have really stepped it up this year. The halftime show is very impressive.

For those who rem OC Sanders in Knox his play calling is very familiar. Likes to run ball inside a lot and passes on passing downs for most
part. His calling card when forced to pass is the short pass/screen game.

RE: Official Game Thread: Wofford
Of course the offense needs revamping. Honestly, this game was a step backwards. Improvement is the goal each week. No sign of it here. We thought Sanders would bring a wide open offensive scheme that piled up yards and points. Just the opposite. Does this mean he doesn’t have the athletes and speed to open it up or the wrong plan for the personnel we have?

Wofford rushed for 409 yards, with Newman getting 185, while eating clock and draining our defense. A blueprint for our demise or most anyone’s. They certainly had our number and a game plan that matched. Are we so predictable? Or, are they that much more athletic and faster? Did we prepare for them or did they bring in something new on offense not seen before while essentially having our offensive game book? And all the other questions as to what happened. But, that number 409 flashes in neon.

So many things to discuss. The first thing that struck me was the way the team was just not prepared to play. I think our talent is on a par with theirs. We have great players. The Vegas people had the game quite close. But to come our flat like that was totally embarrassing. I hope that the coaches get that fixed in the next week and a half.

VMI thumped The Citadel in Charleston last weekend. VMI’s quarterback had a big game
