Did anyone end up hanging on to the team?

We got a few spots that could use some additional players. Mainly LB.

A great publicity stunt and excellent avenue to connect with students.
In addition, Having extra bodies at practice can be an asset depending on the coaching staff?
It might improve the team chemistry?

If it were for a real gap,I would think he would have gotten transfers.

I would hope they reach out to some more transfers especially for the O-Line and linebackers.

Basketball players may sometimes make great wide receivers.
They are often tall athletic and they can jump.
Could be some dual talents enrolled at NIU.

Stranger things have happened. Great NIU QB George Bork was a two-sport athlete, playing football and basketball (turned down a Michigan offer which was basketball only). Just for fun, here's a link to a 2005 Northern Star story including Bork's comments ...

Curious to those who know...Is this:

A) Common for programs to have in mid-season?

OR

B) Likely happening because we need bodies after mounting injuries (and also due to those who left program with new regime.) ?

I’ll hang up and listen for my answer.

05-bump

Hmmm....
