The most obvious response to your question lies in him attacking YOU for being 'in the tank'. This is the typical leftist tactic of accusing 'you' of being exactly what 'he' is doing.
Few are more in the tank for any 'issue' than he is. You're giving the same legal advice that any lawyer who gets to decide how much he charges rather than being 'appointed' would give their client. They would NEVER say, if you have nothing to hide, be an open book. A prosecutor's job is to prosecute, not to seek equity, fairness or justice. That is the job of the court.
No objective person can look at all the facts known currently and say no further investigation from congress is warranted. So if you're not objective, yes, you're in the tank. Sorry that's inconvenient for you.
And I'm not afraid to say at all that I was in the tank for Obama, but at the same time I can objectively say he botched many things as president including his gaffes with the ACA.
And I'm more than confident history will judge me correct. But if not, I'll easily admit I was wrong.

Saying that no further investigation is warranted is different from saying that the current investigation is a partisan witch hunt. Some investigation may very well be warranted, but not this particular one.

Right, let's wait on AG Barr and House/Senate Republicans to investigate. Are you high?

No, he's just rational which is something the D's haven't been since Nov 2016. This is just more Mueller like nonsense where EVERYTHING must be investigated in order to find the crime to fit the punishment. It didn't work with Mueller and it isn't working now. It's silly, and it's costing the D's voters.

(10-11-2019 03:02 PM)Redwingtom Wrote:  But I get it. You've already sold your soul to the devil in trump here, so at this point, you might as well just go down with the ship. Sad.

I'll repeat what I said earlier... like the rest of the left, you have a habit of accusing others of what you're guilty of.

To argue that the left hasn't been trying to find literally ANYTHING to pin on Trump since day one is ridiculous. Facts be damned, you just KNOW there is a crime here somewhere, and until you find one, you will continue to say 'we don't know enough'.

You're 'I'll admit it' is transparent. The only way you'd admit it is if he could PROVE his innocence TO YOUR SATISFACTION.

There is no way nor any circumstance under which you would ever say that Trump had PROVED his innocence.

You still haven't admitted that you were wrong about his collusion with Russia.

Trump may well be guilty. I have no idea... but I DO know that 'what we know' is a sentence in search of a crime.

Heck, even your own claim is that this isn't the entire transcript... BECAUSE you need 'what we don't know' in order to imply a crime.

Yep, heaven forbid a President would encourage another President to investigate corruption on a recorded line. He should have done what Obama did and tell Biden to go do it in a closed door session, or else..

Really? Do you have a source for that?

I thought presidential communications with foreign leaders were not recorded on our end. Perhaps the Ukrainians have a recording though.

Yeah, I'd like to see and hear that too. So would congress!

How about Fortune Magazine reporting that both the NY Times and Bloomberg said it? I don't have subscriptions to either of those sources, but I have no reason to doubt Fortune. While people can still question ANY source, these aren't exactly bloggers. The article is about the supposed security of such a system and not about its existence.

According to reporting by the New York Times and Bloomberg, voice transcription software—in conjunction with notes taken by observers in the White House Situation Room—was used to draft the transcript memo. https://fortune.com/2019/09/28/trump-zel...re-secure/

Now, if you're going to argue that Trump somehow manipulated the transcription software or that he managed to have the entire conversation and somehow BRILLIANTLY managed to have the keys that you needed to convict 'inaudible', well... I guess you'll just have to use the HEAVY DUTY foil next time.

Quote:A White House official who testified in front of the House on Tuesday as part of its impeachment investigation reportedly said the White House’s rough transcript of a July phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left out key words and phrases.

Three people familiar with the situation told The New York Times that Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman testified to congressional investigators that among the omissions were Trump’s assertions that there were recordings of former Vice President Joe Biden discussing Ukrainian corruption and a reference by Zelensky to Burisma Holdings, the energy company on whose board Biden’s son sat.

The Hill

If Trump's conversation with Zelensky was so "perfect", why omit key phrases?

RE: Trump's days are numbered... He will be removed from office
I have a hypothetical question that nobody seems to be asking. Suppose there is reason to believe that a political opponent has engaged in illegal or corrupt or unethical behavior. What then is a president supposed to do?

Do you not investigate because the potential perp is a political opponent? Or do you investigate vigorously and in so doing bring to bear all possible sources of information? Or do you conduct a half-hearted investigation in an attempt to avoid making waves? Or do you do something else, if so, what?

I am not asserting that either of the Bidens did anything illegal, unethical, or corrupt. That's why I am asking this as a hypothetical. As to whether or not there is adequate reason to believe that one or both Bidens may have engaged in illegal, corrupt, or unethical behavior, that is a different question.

I don't think the issue they see is that he asked them to investigate it, whether it's our own DOJ or another countries it should never be a problem to investigate corruption.

I think the issue the dems have is that if he threatened to withhold aid unless it was done. Even then, as the chief executive I'm not entirely sure that is impeachable.

I honestly have not been following along with the nitty gritty details, have the dems actually listed the impeachable offenses they are investigating?

Currently they're basing it off of PQP from the WB's account, who by the way doesn't have to appear to answer any questions nor wants their name known for fear of their life.

I'm still mind blown that Trump is in trouble for possible withholding of aid in exchange for a corruption investigation of Biden, but no one seems to care that Biden engaged in actual quid pro quo of getting Ukraine's corruption prosecutor fired (who was investigating Burisma while Hunter Biden was a board member) by actually withholding aid to do it. And Biden is on tape bragging about it.

Also agree with the OP that drudge seems to be hanging Trump out to dry.

Jug.. Buddy.. You're a smart guy or gal.. Haven't you seen or heard that if a Dem/Lib does something it's ok, but if a Republican/Conservative does it, it's the worst sin in the history of man?

Why do you think Hillary is wanting to get in the race? New rule: If you are running against Trump all of your previous mis-dealings are forgiven. Everyone in the world knows Trump never mentioned aid and the Ukrainians never knew any was held up. He held it up to get a feel on whether or not the new Ukrainian President was straight and to set up the President for the DOJ to investigate what happened in 2016.

Drudge has totally abandoned Trump. Not a good sign. Most of today he has had a Photo of Nixon up on the top of his page.

It doesn’t matter one freakin bit if he did say that. Which I have no reason to believe this one guy is accurately describing. The president sets foreign policy. Not some unelected democrat mole listening in on his conversations. So as far as I’m concerned this guy wasted his time and ruined his ability to spy on the presidents conversations for as long as a Republican sits in that chair.

As to whether or not there is adequate reason to believe that one or both Bidens may have engaged in illegal, corrupt, or unethical behavior, that is a different question.

Part of the answer to your question is that we must realize that the president undoubtedly knows more than us. He may have specific reasons for asking for investigation on the Ukrainian end.

Do you not investigate because the potential perp is a political opponent? Or do you investigate vigorously and in so doing bring to bear all possible sources of information? Or do you conduct a half-hearted investigation in an attempt to avoid making waves? Or do you do something else, if so, what?

I don't think the issue they see is that he asked them to investigate it, whether it's our own DOJ or another countries it should never be a problem to investigate corruption.

I think the issue the dems have is that if he threatened to withhold aid unless it was done. Even then, as the chief executive I'm not entirely sure that is impeachable.

I honestly have not been following along with the nitty gritty details, have the dems actually listed the impeachable offenses they are investigating?

We forget that the Ukraine government had lost $8 billion during the Barry-Biden administration. That would be a lot of $4 million payouts to people like Hunter Biden and Pelosi’s kid. The president has not only a right but an obligation to be sure corruption is being investigated and curtailed. How does anyone not get that?

And Biden is on tape bragging about it.

Also agree with the OP that drudge seems to be hanging Trump out to dry.

Jug.. Buddy.. You're a smart guy or gal.. Haven't you seen or heard that if a Dem/Lib does something it's ok, but if a Republican/Conservative does it, it's the worst sin in the history of man?

Which can only be pulled off with the aid of a one sided MSM....

Drudge has totally abandoned Trump. Not a good sign. Most of today he has had a Photo of Nixon up on the top of his page.

The Drudge Report didn’t make Trump and they can not bring him down. Neither can the MSM. Trump is not your normal politician.
