That said, do we view UCF in the upper tier of teams that includes Ohio State? No. Is there as big a disparity between us and #18? I don't think so. If we didn't play Ohio State this year we'd probably be ranked or just outside the Top 25. I still believe it comes down to the play of Ridder. We'll go as far as he goes. That does give me pause that he hasn't played well overall against top competition or when the stage is fully lit. However, there is no time like the present to step up in a big game and get it done in Year 2 of his development. This could be a defining game for Ridder. He doesn't need to be a hero but play mistake free ball and make the right reads. All you can do is hope for the opportunity and we got it tomorrow night...please go jumbo jet ape s_hit Nip!

UCF’s skill guys on the edge and on Special teams are as fast (perhaps faster) than Ohio State’s.

Their defensive front is long and really quick and can cause havoc while packing the line. Their OL is not protecting at an elite level but their speed and the playbook often makes up for it.

People who have not seen them much this year may be surprised at the speed difference that still appears to exist between the two rosters. They are faster now than they have been in the past 2 years IMO. They have a whole lot of guys Tre Tucker type of quick.

We are going to have to put a ton of pressure on them and we are probably going to have to score a bunch of points to win this game because they are going to get theirs.

I admit I'm not betting money on this game and I'm a bit of a homer. They obviously have talent and have a proven track record of winning big games. I have only watched them in the Pitt game so that may end up being an anomaly. I will say they scored 62 points against an FCS squad and 56 against UGone. The other games were also high scoring against meh teams including [2-3] Stanford in Orlando. I think we'll lose if we try to go toe-to-toe in scoring. We have to possess the ball more than them, control the clock, and not make self-inflicted wounds. That doesn't mean we don't try and take our shots when the opportunity presents itself a la Pierce, Deguara, et al. Do that and we can win at home.

I’ll be curious to see if we run the wildcat direct snap to Warren or Tucker. Stanford and Pitt each ran that play a dozen + times against UCF’s front 7 with a lot of success. Heck, Pitt ran it 4 straight times in a row on a couple drives before UCF was able to stop it on the 4th one. Someone saw something on film.

UCF likes to run reverses and plays to get their blazing fast WR’s the ball while they are already at full speed. Our ends better keep contain.

Speaking of trick plays I wonder if we have been storing some in the playbook for this game.

I'll wager the staff will run a wildcat or two. Ridder looks like he could go get a pass in that 6' 4" frame. Maybe time to throw one to him out of the wildcat at some point in the game. I'm still waiting for the 4 TE set that Coach Freeman was lamenting during Camp Higher Ground.

Gabriel is a frosh QB. Time to throw him the kitchen sink of coverages and/or blitz him from all angles. They need to make him as uncomfortable as hell in the pocket. Doesn't look like he gets out and runs.

Curious-

If I’m heading down for midnight madness, do they open the gates of the football stadium??

Could we get in for the third quarter or the fourth? Or do the ushers / ticket takers stand there the whole game?

UC has directed those coming down for Midnight Madness only to enter 5th/3rd via the east side entrance and that those coming from the football game enter from the west entrance.

There usually are still security at the Varsity Village entrance to Nippert for an entire football game and the barriers are still in place at the end of the game so I don't think someone could get in without a tickets even in the 3rd or 4th quarter.

Thanks!!
If anyone else has a different opinion about this let me know.

I don’t mind even buying a couple tickets, but if I go, I’m bringing a bunch of kids so it’s Nearly $300.

Just read Fifth Third arena doors open at 10 PM. And they’ll be playing the game on the video board and other TV’s.

Now you're asking a lot from Cincinnati fans, LOL. I'm sure the "No Standing" zones on the concourses will all be SRO at that hour though.

Raise your hand if you have adult beverages on standby for the game tonight?

Wow, just about the entire room.

Raise your hand if you've already started to imbibe?

Whoa, about one third of you! Fuggin' lushes.

By the way, where's Dannyboy? I haven't seen him post yet today. Dude has me worried that he's already worked a 12 down...
