CMU vs. WMU Game Thoughts
I watched that CMU-WMU game yesterday and it was......Painful. 30 combined penalties between the two teams. They looked undisciplined and sloppy. That is a reflection of coaching and preparedness. WMU used a lot of hard counts at the line as well as a bunch of personal fouls between these two teams. EMU had a combined 8 penalties vs. CCSU and 11 at Illinois.

WMU earned the win and they have a good team, but after bearing through that slop-fest, there is no reason we can't legitimately contend for the West. CMU is on their backup QB (Dormady out) and threw 48 times vs Western they look beatable.

Every team has a side-step game where they earn a win but dont get better doing it (i.e. Clemson nearly losing last night to unranked UNC). I am hopeful that our side-step game was CCSU and that is out of the way.

Go Eagles!

CMU vs. WMU Game Thoughts
I watched a lot of the 1st half. My impression was that WMU often took an extra shot after the whistle. EMU better not fall into the retaliation trap against them. Hoping CC has a conversation about it with the refs before that game.

Thanks. You have the detail I don't. I kind of watched part of the game with one eye and pretty distracted.

I saw one CMU DL player (55?) who kept falling for the hard count. Think someone said WMU QB was using a 'double hand clap' to draw him off.

I think CMU has a player who was ejected and will miss time Saturday.

Bottom line: There was a lot in that game for our coaches to pick apart.

Rivalry game and CMU-WMU hate each other. I didn't like the personal fouls, but I understand. If it's not cleaned up for Toledo though, WMU is going to get beaten soundly. In total CMU had 7 offside penalties. Lester said he saw on film that there was a tendancy for CMU to jump, and he mixed the cadences up quite a bit. Seems like it worked.

I looked into this. Starting DB Willie Reid will miss the 1st half against us due to a targeting in the 2nd half against WMU.

RE: CMU vs. WMU Game Thoughts
I would like to say we could have won that game if not for a bunch of ridiculous errors, but that's the game of football. We drove down the field plenty of times, passed on FG's when we have one of the best K in the country, turned it over at bad times, and ultimately lost to the better team.

We are playing a lot of young guys and we were a train wreck last season. I expect us to win 6 games this year and I believe this week will be a very tight game. You guys seem like a rugged team with some solid talent too, but a suspect defense. I think this game will be in the 20's. Our DB's are young and the path to success for EMU is to attack them.

Your DBs are young? Sounds good to me. EMU has one of the best QBs and receiver groups in the MAC. Glass should throw for over 300 yards. Prepare for the dink and dunk passes to set up the deep throws.

Bronc, Lester played the CMU D-Line like a fiddle, he got five free yards whenever he liked. The holding penalties, not personal fouls are what needs to be cleaned up. Wishing you nothing but the best at the Michigan-Ohio border this weekend.

George your field goal kicker is freaking GREAT! U-M really screwed up when they let him go, he is from nearby Saline and his family owns the Pizza House restaurant here. Then again Harbaugh got national attention when he slept over at Quinn Nordin's house recruiting him and is reluctant to dump him.

Let’s hope. We really need to at least show the threat of being able to run. CCSU basically dared us to run in the 2nd half and we couldn’t do it. Our offense got predictable. I don’t want to run Glass too much, but if he can pick up a few big gains with his feet early, CMU will shift their game plan and passing lanes will open up.

We're all gonna get our wish for Breck Turner to get more game reps. He's listed as the starter for this game.

Maybe the coaches read this board! Turner and Mackey are the best RB on this team! And Turner's a senior who has never gotten a chance until this week!

The clue to what is happening is when a starter is listed last in the depth chart.

That suggests injury. Vann, Eddington, Holford, etc. are doubtful or out.

https://emueagles.com/documents/2019/9/3...df?id=8001

Each RB moves up as Vann is listed fourth.
