Wow...they really know how to hype themselves up over there...or something? I like that the OP was trying to explain to the board how to hype themselves and talk about ways to win while the rest of the board was "oh great JMU, Why did we schedule this for homecoming, we are going to get destroyed"

I think there is a chance this is a decent game but clearly their fans have already given up on it.

I got a good laugh from the SBU fan who posted that he was convinced they would have won the playoff game in 2017 if their QB hadn’t thrown 5 ints. That’s rather like saying he was convinced SBU would have won the game if JMU hadn’t scored more points than SBU.

Their coach is a hard-nosed guy, and his statements about JMU in that 2017 season were enough to make me dislike him, however, I do respect his coaching skills and he’ll have his team ready. I’d love to see a cakewalk win forJMU, but I expect a really tough game.

The guy clearly has a gripe with JMU. They were sent here 3 games in a row and talked about it like it was our fault that happened. If he had only mentioned it once I wouldn't think twice. But when he harps on it over and over and over again it's sad.
And now yet again he talks about it but now it's 'FINALLY we get JMU at home" like we were petitioning to the league to not go to Stony Brook and we just had to bite the bullet.
I hope we blow them out just to shut him up about it. Be careful what you wish for Priore. I'm guessing next he'll be complaining that the CAA schedules us against them at all.

Yeah, its not like we had people on here saying JMU would have beaten Colgate if Dinucci hadn't thrown 5 INTs...Oh wait a minute..

Forgot to mention besides being online on Flo, the game is showing to be televised on SNY (Sports Net NY). I get it with Philly area Verizon FIOS.

This game will be regionally blacked out again due to the flo contract. It is subscribers who get SNY in NY, CT, NJ and Northeast PA.

In southeast PA I used to not get SNY with the mid tier FIOS bundle package. I upgraded to the top tier for a good bit less $$$ (after using the threatening to cancel/cut the cord card) right before the Colgate game. Gave me new access to several sports channels, including SNY.

Thanks in advance

I live 10 minutes from Stony Brook's campus.

I met a bunch of people from this board the last time JMU played up here. I used to have a Black Toyota Tundra pickup and we had a tent with some LI chicken cutlet and Italian party hero sandwiches and some local beer. I'll probably bring about 10 feet of hero again and some more local beer, I just have a gray Jeep Wrangler now instead of the Tundra. Any JMU travelers are welcome to stop by our tailgate...tell Jeff Bourne he can have a few slices of our hero again : -) I'll be with a mixed group (JMU/SBU) of friends who are alumni of both schools. We'll most likely be in the green lot near the basketball arena (closest to the visitors stands of the football stadium), hopefully right along the grass again.

As far as tickets and parking...I'm not too worried. Stony Brook draws decent but I doubt it will sell out. It was 85 degrees today here, but a cold front just came through, and they are only calling for temps in the mid-50s on Saturday. That might keep the crowd down, plus a large part of the local population will be wine-tasting and pumpkin picking out east on the North Fork.

As far as lodging: if your budget allows Danfords is an unbelievable hotel in the heart of beautiful Port Jefferson Village ("Down Port"). I'm not sure of pricing, but you're off-season now, so shouldn't be too bad. In fact it might even be the same price as some of the hotels further away near the expressway or on Route 347. Port Jeff is an awesome harbor town full of restaurants and bars and is about 4 miles from the stadium. Also, the Mrs. and I will probably be going out for drinks (hopefully after a JMU victory) with some of our local JMU alumni friends at Danfords schooner bar after the game!

If anyone has any questions, please ask. Two tips: 1) Don't try to cross through NYC to LI on a Friday afternoon. Friday morning before 1pm, after 7pm or early Saturday morning. Friday afternoon traffic is AWFUL. 2) GPS isn't always the fastest way to get places in NYC and on Long Island, so if you have any questions I'm happy to help!

Definitely better than living 10 minutes from Hofstra. Am I right?

Anyone know where I could catch the game in Charlottesville? Apparently Random Row usually shows it, but they are closed for private event that night.

Yup Suffolk is way better than Nassau!!!
Still a pretty nice slice of suburban living: less than an hour from the Big Town, less than a mile from the LI Sound, 45 minutes to the Hamptons, and 20 minutes to the vehicular eastern-access point of Fire Island. It's very nice living here. You would think the winter sucks, but it doesn't (Spring SUCKS though because the ocean is still cold and it keeps the temperatures down until about May 1st.

A couple of tidbits
The SB punter is ambidextrous like JMU’s O’Kelly, but he uses his left foot almost as much as his right. Amos will have to read quickly to the side the punter rolls to.

In watching some Stony Brook games, QB Tyquell Fields is a remedial passer. Like high school remedial. JMU will overload against the run and make him pass. I’m looking for 2+ INT’s and lots of incompletions.

Regarding the QB run, Fields will be the 2nd best running QB on the field. The Nooch is much better and more dangerous with his feet.

Stony Brook’s DB Augie Contressa proclaimed on the walkthrough podcast that he had family coming up from Virginia to “see us beat JMU.”
