It was a mistake to fire Bowden after last season, but the athletic director has been waiting to get a football hire on his resume for years now. That's more important than coaching stability or credibility or fan support, right?

I'd have kept him after last year. 1 year removed from a MACC appearance & you're firing the guy? I don't think so.

It sure looks like the Akron players also disagreed with firing Bowden. They don't seem to be playing for the new guy.

Akron makes bad choices. Bowden gave them their first ever bowl win and they win the East in 2017 and then D'oh... hey decide to fire him. They are their own worst enemy.

Did Akron get a new AD? Seems like a lot of them try to bring in their own coach if the holdover takes a tumble in the standings, even if they should be given more time.

Agreed with the 8 or so people above. Bowden delivered Akron’s first win over the Big Ten since 1908-ish too...over a team in the midst of a 15-1 B1G streak.

I disagreed with the Bowden firing too.. 4-8 was no doubt disappointing last year but even that when you factor in the NW win was not that bad for Akron. But given the results so far this year its possible it was a matter of time anyway.
