This is one of the reasons I hesitate in advocating any instructions leaving C-USA: https://sports.yahoo.com/amphtml/can-mon...45669.html

That's from 2018. Littrell needs more time, if he hangs around.

No, I don't think so.

I mean, I could say that the appeal of Dallas is comparable to that of Orlando. Maybe.

Texas recruits are comparable to Florida recruits.

Those two things are in UNT's favor. But I don't think so.

Sorry, I just don’t see any CUSA school getting to the level of a UCF or Boise. Not gonna happen sadly.

RE: Interesting reading: Can UNT be the Next UCF???
As a UNT fan, I don't think so. As another poster said, I can see us being Houston-like as the 2 schools are very similar and both are putting a lot of money into athletic facilities, especially football. And, CUSA is just not generating as much income as the AAC for any of us to catch UCF IMO.

So many things could happen. If someone takes Littrell, I believe we would still be OK. But, If our AD Wren Baker were to get snatched up, he would be much more difficult to replace. The big changes across the board started when Wren Baker was hired.

Also, right now the University has a very positive vibe towards athletics and the benefit of investing in them. What if that changes ? What if CUSA continues to struggle and have inept leadership at the top ?

In the coming years we should have more talent across the board on our football team. But, we are going to have to replace our best player (Fine) at the most important position.

No. Other Florida schools can't even be the next UCF. Runaway enrollment and cash to do whatever they want. None of us can throw money at a problem until it's fixed. They can.

Ya never know but it's very premature to bring it up. I will say it's clear that UNT's athletic program has moved leaps and bounds since bringing in the new AD. Major progression in both main sports.

I disagree. Just because two non-power leagues are perceptually viewed more favorably isn’t going to stop you. Boise really rose to prominence in a depleted WAC that was perceptually behind both the MWC and CUSA at the time with even another power league existing in the form of the Big East.

Winning big is essential though.

UNT needs to start by beating SMU on a regular basis.

Since you asked....

Sure, why not North Texas? But, I would say there are other programs that could too, and are much closer to pulling it off, like UAB for instance.

Our game against SMU showed me just how far from being an elite G5 program we really are, and we are far. Dykes has done an incredible job of rebuilding an SMU team that we flat out destroyed in 2018. North Texas is doing several things much better than we did under our previous AD, but we are still failing to bring in enough talent in the trenches. UNT has a somewhat misguided philosophy of recruiting local talent, which works great for skill position players. We get great RB's and WR's, but our lines are a different story. There just isn't enough quality OL's and DL's in the area between Dallas and the Red River. North Texas can remain a winning program in C-USA, but will not become an elite G5 program like UCF or Boise State until they are willing to scour the country and overturn every stone to find better offensive and defensive linemen. In my unbiased opinion, it is our program's greatest weakness, and keeps us from contending with the better G5 programs on an annual basis.

I think the team with the best theoretical chance would be UTSA. Large market that doesn't have pro teams. Would take stars aligning but possible. Need a breakthrough season.

Not even going to lie, this really really really chaps my ass.

These articles were supposed to be written about us. Yet look at us. An absolute laughing stock.
