UCF is not even in the same conversation as Boise State.

Boise has to the highest G5 winning percentage over the past decade plus,
highest winning percentage against P5, most BCS bowls among G5, highest ranked G5 #2 AP poll.

UCF has had multiple winless seasons, multiple losing seasons. Flash in the pan type success. Besides they just lost to Pittsburgh and Boise has the inside track to NY6 game 03-lmfao

A solid coach & great players is all any team needs. It’s not rocket science.

People focus on the outlier season where we lost every game. They forget the the two years before that we won the AAC and beat Big 12 champ in the fiesta bowl and then followed that up by winning a share of the AAC title the next year. The winless season was a perfect storm of terribleness. UCF had a history of success prior to that Frost. We won multiple CUSA titles and division titles and went to the liberty bowl and beat Georgia. It's more than just a few years of success. It is a few years of outstanding success, but the groundwork was laid over a decade of winning before that.

I agree. UCF is here to stay and if you haven't already (I think you have), you guys will undoubtedly surpass Boise State as the premiere G5 program. Way more resources at your disposal being in Orlando ad opposed to Boise.

UCF still has a ways to go before they're a Boise St. type program.
UCF did not win a football game in 2004 and 2015. Two winless seasons within the last 15 years. Let me know when Boise St. does that and I'll secede the G5 premier program title from them.

Good post

Agree that UCF has a bigger upside down the line than Boise State does. Also agree though that UCF still has some distance to make up before reaching BSU's level. Are UCF's winless seasons an aberration? Certainly. But the WORST season Boise State has had in the last 2 decades was 8-5 (2013). So for BSU, 8-5 is the aberration. That's a whole other level of success compared to UCF who've had 7 losing seasons in that same time span.

UCF's record since 2005 has been a very respectable 112-69 (.619). Boise State's record in that time has been 153-32 (.827). Boise State is also the only G5 with a winning record against P5 programs over the last couple decades. There's just no comparison between Boise State and anyone else at the G5 level right now. In a couple more decades, UCF might get there if they continue to elevate, but right now we shouldn't even be having this conversation.

You are right there is no comparison between UCF and Boise. Good post

Boise probably deserves the ny6 if they go undefeated, but UCF is currently just a couple of spots away from them with a loss. Interesting huh?

The AAC schedule is going to be much harder though.

RE: Interesting reading: Can UNT be the Next UCF???
I really think we're in a big wait and see mode right now.

Littrell did not recruit well his first couple of seasons and those are the majority of starters right now, with a few exceptions, BUT having a Mason Fine covers up a lot of holes most of the time.

Next two years we won't have Fine, but the level of recruiting has increased significantly. Will it be an even balance? Hard to tell.

I think the losses we've had have been a result of A) Really bad preparation by the coaching staff B) Lack of quality players across all positions.

Once we get those higher ranked classes redshirted and playing I think we might be able to continue the momentum but I'm not sure at this point
