The last time your team pulled an upset
A real upset, not one of those feaux upsets early in the season when the one team was way worse than their initial ranking.
I had to really think hard about this one, it’s usually FSU the one getting upset. The last time FSU really pulled an upset was vs #2 BC in 2007. They finished the season 11-3 while FSU finished up at 7-6. That BC team had some real studs on defense and also Matt Ryan on offense. I remember celebrating that win with my FSU buddies on the old ESPN board. Yep, good times.

RE: The last time your team pulled an upset
For NC State an upset probably means a team ranked above 12th.
2012 FSU #3
2011 Clemson #8
2003 Ohio State #3 (Three overtime loss)
2002 ND #11
2001 FSU #10
1998 FSU #2
1998 Syracuse #11
1989 Clemson #8
1988 Clemson #9
1975 Penn State #8
1974 Penn State #7
1967 Houston #2
1954 Duke #4
1950 Maryland #8
We should have beaten Clemson in 2016 but missed the point blank winning FG and lost in ot. Had we beaten Clemson, it's doubtful they lose to Pitt as they did that year. We don't have an NFL QB for this season or next so there will be no covering for anyone who is injured or simply not as good as the man on the other side. Russell Wilson, Jacoby Brissett, and Phillip Rivers, could cover up some weaknesses, but in any year where we had the QB, Carolina had who we needed at Defensive Tackle or LB.

I’m a Pitt fan. We upset people all the time. I’d like to be good enough so that when we beat another good team it’s not considered [/align]an upset.

VT won as an underdog vs. UVA last year but the biggest recent upset was winning @tOSU the year they won the National Championship.

If we're counting all top 10 upsets, then you missed one:
2008: Pitt 26, #10 USF 21
...and don't forget - your team nearly bounced Notre Dame out of the BCS championship in 2012, too.
2012: #4 Notre Dame 29, Pitt 26 (3OT)
Shoulda put 'em out of their misery - coulda saved 'em some embarrassment!

Nah, you always want to go 12-0, it is tough to do. How do I know? Not many do it.
You also want to play in the national championship game, no matter what.
Also, losing to Alabama in the National Championship Game is not badge of dishonor.
My guess is that Alabama team would have done that to just about any team.
They shut out LSU and won by three touchdowns in that game the year before.

I kept it to within a decade.
