Surprised to see Army so low(74), and Wake Forest so high(18). Is WF getting any poll attention?

Not surprised, but impressed, to see Rice grouped in to the 7-team midpack at 100-118.

So those ranking us up at 5 or 6 in CUSA are perfectly well justified, as are those with us as far down as 12.

Personally I think we’ll finish much closer to 6 than 12, but bowl eligibility will we a tough ask with the OOC schedule. Also the west has more “top 99” teams so our CUSA schedule will be harder than the east teams. We’ll need to get a couple /stretch wins/ from our four games against that crowd, in addition to running the table against the non top 99.

These are my ratings, and I don't start them until most teams have played 4 games. There are exactly zero data points before the season. The major issue with preseason rankings (for voters) is that the arbitrary initial rankings can affect how teams are perceived well into the season.

For example, I don't have Michigan, UCF and Texas A&M anywhere near the top 25. They may EARN it later, but they haven't, as of now.

Well it’s certainly up from last season.
Rice’s 2018 Massey Composite end-of-year ranking was 128/130. Our highest ranking in any of the composite rankings was 118. (Not one ranking had us as 130, though!)

My final rankings had Rice at #126 (it's part of the Massey Composite).
