Big Trouble at UH?
Reports: Houston QB D'Eriq King may sit out rest of season to preserve final year of eligibility.

RE: Big Trouble at UH?
UNT is saying thank you for the turmoil. They better beat Houston at home next week now. Apparently Holgersen may just give up on this season and redshirt a bunch of other players to put all the chips in for next year.

If King's simply quits the team ... in the hope/expectation of getting a redshirt and another year of eligibility to use at another school ... is UH obliged to grant him the redshirt? If he quits or is kicked off the team (for quitting) after playing just four games, would he be eligible next year? If so, it's almost like his first four games at UH are like a tryout for another school ... seeing how quite a few QBs seem to be transferring up to more prestigious programs for their final year of eligibility.

Might see him mount a Heisman calibre season in Norman next fall. They've got that transfer QB pipeline flowing pretty well of late.

More like he realized that he if he keeps the door open for UH he can have all the benefits of being scholarship athlete, graduate in May, and then transfer.

Interesting exchange in comments:

I’m so confused. Someone explain to me wtf is going on? Why transfer but then redshirt and come back? I’m lost.

- - -
Daric @Darikashi

He’s not transferring. He’s sitting out the rest of the season, which will use his redshirt thanks to the new rules, then will play again next year with a new season where we haven’t gone 1-3.

- - -
Skinny Black @savant_football

I mean I understand that I’m just confused as to why. Cuz you’re 1-3?

- - -
Daric @Darikashi

We have no shot at winning the conference or going to a NY6 bowl this season, so why not sit out, learn the offense more with your new coach, and come back next year when you don’t play 2 top 25 p5 teams in the first 3 weeks

Maybe Coug fans should follow King's lead and quit on the team for the rest of the season, too?

Tilman needs to borrow Trump’s Sharpie so he can change all that promotional material “King For Heisman 2019” to 2020 that they sent out.

The sharpie would work too if King ends up transferring to Alabama.

RE: Big Trouble at UH?
Wonder what his teammates think about him and the receiver quitting on the team after a poor start?

Seems like an unintended consequence of the new red shirt rules.

We have depth and a solid 2020 recruiting class. UH will be fine as shown last night. Rice should focus on getting a win this season.

We are focused on getting a win Saturday September 5 across town at Touchdown East Carolina University Stadium.

Hope your guy decides to play that one and maybe a game or two more next year.
