You missed the opportunity to use “We suck again!” for the ULM-USA game

Hey Bobcat fans-y'all gonna be playing for the Paddle?
Nicholls won the Paddle in the last SLC game and retired it. We last played them as a FBS transitional team and they said that the Paddle could no longer be played for. But then the the students made a bunch of paddles and gave to the players after the win and they rowed at midfield.

I mean, I said it in the prediction thread for the week that ISU shouldn't be underestimated. They probably came out angry after the Iowa game which they pissed away.

The worst time to play a P5 team is after they've lost a rival game they probably should have won. They want to beat up on somebody.

That and it's possible ULM's coach knew not to expend all his teams energy on a game that ultimately doesn't matter. Beating FSU is one thing (see Boise State now being ranked 15th despite their close calls against Marshall and Air Force), but beating ISU doesn't carry the same weight.
A common theme among professional handicappers is that G5 coaches don't always get up for P5 games the way those teams think. The idea that the P5 game is the G5's game Super Bowl, isn't always realistic and that's evidenced by a team like ULM, who isn't bad enough to truly give up 70 points to ISU, getting taken behind the woodshed during the first and second half.

Good point. But I was thinking the GIF I suggested could apply to both teams, especially with how down in the dumps USA fans have been lately.

I'm happy to see the culture change in the Sun Belt when it comes to P5 games.
Just a decade ago, they were seen as moral victories if we kept it close, and luck/gadgetry if we pulled off a W.
Since realignment, the SBC programs now have the mindset that the P5 games are winnable, with an eye on a NY6 bowl.
I still remember when beating a #17 ranked Missouri fifteen years ago was unbelievable for Troy to do. Now the program has an expectation to compete in these games and win.

RE: Ranking the Week 5 SBC Games
That is true. We thought we had a chance at FSU and Iowa St. You just never know either way in these games. We usually either win or have a heartbreaking loss or the wheels fall off. I’m honestly not really worried about us. We moved the ball and scored against one of the best defenses in the country. Our D is built to slow down SBC teams, not pseudo Big 10 teams with their size. We’ll be fine. Lose to USA and I’ll be singing a different tune.

Nicholls is a two point road favorite at Texas State. Chase Fourcade is an excellent quarterback.

Texas State's run defense better decide to show up, or else they could get run off the field by Nicholls.
Nicholls will give up plenty of pass yards, but Texas State will probably give up plenty of rush yards... and that's Nicholls State's bread and butter.
Could be an offensive shootout.

Nichols is favored??? Wow. Pressure is on Texas State to win.
As far as stopping USA, just stack the box and dare us to throw. Being Monroe just gave up a lot of points, I think we can score a TD this week.
Not sure how Cephus is recovering from his concussion. We have some players, but haven't pulled it together yet.
