Help us get recruits? Help us bring recruits into the city? Help the Memphis - Team Thad relationship? I mean Drew Hill is acting like this was a big deal and Penny was there with Hurd for the announcement. I know I'm missing something - actually everything. How does the help?

It is a big deal.

If nothing else it means Norton Hurd is not working against Penny.

Hurd/Thad had some battles with Penny in a previous life. With Penny out, Hurd is set to get ALL the top players in Memphis. The Nike relationship ensures that will happen. AND it puts him on the right side with Penny.

Pretty big deal.

It's also good for the city of Memphis and the extra exposure playing on the Nike circuit. More money also means more gear and if he wants to he doesn't have to recruit as hard outside the city as he did with Under Armour. Hurd was wonderful finding players that no one heard of and now they are playing D1 ball. Now he can possibly get all of the key kids in Memphis.

It makes no difference. Penny is going to get any Memphis kid he prioritizes.

Hurd is an influencer with these kids. To have him working on the same side makes things easier.
