UCF losing is good for Memphis
I don’t think some Memphis fans know what things need to happen to give us the best chance to make a New Years Day bowl.

Everything revolves around the College Football Playoff rankings

Every week we need to root for any Non P5 school ranked higher then us to lose

UCF losing today will likely rank them below Memphis

We need Boise to lose as well

The next threat is SMU with their win over TCU

As much as I hate seeing one of our conference mates lose its important for us to see anyone ranked ahead of us to lose.

The P6 big bowl slot goes to the highest ranked Non P5 team

No it isn't. You have to win the championship to be eligible. We want them to be highly ranked, then beat them in the championship game.

And you also have to be ranked at least 15th, or maybe 17th.

Correct. We have no opportunity to influence Boise’s record but anyone in our conference we do.

Definitely not good for Memphis. It devalues the AAC, and in order for us to get the NY6 slot, we have to win the conference championship, which means UCF wouldn't be eligible, no matter what their record is.

RE: UCF losing is good for Memphis
?

Because Memphis would have to play UCF in the title game if UCF remained unbeaten getting ranked ahead of them would take care of itself

When all is done the New Years Bowl will still come down to MWC or AAC champion. If that is us and we match Boise States record I like our chances.

Is there anything that would prevent the New Years Bowl games from picking BOTH a Memphis and a Boise State if they are both undefeated?

(We have way too many tough games to think realistically going undefeated but could both go?)

Our non-conference schedule ensures we’ll lose out to BSU in that circumstance.

This is what I am thinking. If Memphis & UCF are both undefeated in AAC play, the higher rated team gets to host, so we needed them to lose a game for us to host. I guess it wouldve been better to have an AAC team beat them, but we cant pick everything exactly as we want it.

RE: UCF losing is good for Memphis
I don't want our Conference headbutts picking UCF to win again, and then propping them up for what is considered to be the "greater good".

The more UCF looses, the less likely this will repeat.

and, o yeah....
'the greater good' can kiss. our. assdirt.
I say we leave them all in the dust!

ok..that's my Sunday sermon. lol

(For the short version--see the above post.)

The announcers doing the game spent the better part of the 1st half explaining how this finally showed UCF couldn’t play in a P5 conference... back to back games against P5 schools was just too much.

I’m sorry, but that’s not good for the AAC or for Memphis.

RE: UCF losing is good for Memphis
Meh. I’m a fan. I cheer for my team like a simple minded fan. Plus I look at our predicament as simply as possible. Drive our enemies before us and hear the lamentation of their wusses.

If I have to cheer and/or be sad when UCF loses, that sucks above and beyond the duty of fandom. lol. Memphis got screwed in the name of UCF—UCF with all its crassly entitled fans. Ain’t no way I’m uniting my precious energies with theirs. lol

Hey. They were the chosen ones to lead the AAC to power glory...And what happened? Epic triple fail that’s what—-Our conference, Central Florida and Memphis all lost.

It’s someone else’s turn to knock at the big boy’s door.
(Memphis raises hand)

In truth, those ‘mighty’ powerdudes don’t hear us. We’re just killing time till the conferences explode— whenever that might be.

Maybe some day we get to share the true spoils of football wars. Until then...
