Getting beat down
Other than UT, MAC teams, UC, I don't pay a lot of attention of the potential beat downs that mid majors suffered at the expense of the power 5 top tier programs. I don't see the point of why Kent State, for example, not only picking on them, goes on the road to play the Alabama's, Penn State's, Ohio State's of the world to not have even a wimper of a chance beating these programs, but to suffer anilation by these schools. What do their fans get out of this when they travel to support their team. Perhaps visiting their campuses (and I did when I went to UVirginia when they played the Golden Flashes, my son graduated from the school) is the highlight of their trip, and the football game becomes second hand.
So what I mean, there is no enjoyment watching the scoring travesty. I know, I know, it's the almighty buck that is driving this for schools like the MAC and other mid majors. Perhaps the Kent States of the world should just step down and play at the lower level, or to remain D1 by scheduling other power 5 weaker teams, or mid majors.
For example, I would love to have gone to Navy which I was planning on it (I was at the Kent-Army game at West Point), when Toledo had them on their schedule, only to hear that Navy back out of the contract. So the Rockets will be going to ND soon I see, a game I may take in, and I hope the highlight of the trip will not only be the pagentry that is ND football, but to view a competitive game.
