Why takes on the game
I wanted to watch the replay before commenting. First of all I don't like listening to Michael Reghi, never have, and that other announcer wasn't that much better. Several times they were trying to call what the penalties were without looking at the replay first, and they were wrong quite a bit.
A good win for the Rockets against a team who were rank every year when Lavell Edwards was their coach, but no longer. Reghi kept commenting about how great the BYU coach was and how great BYU defense is (not). His first year he was 9-4, last 3 years 18-21. It's like what have you done for me lately. This BYU team is a very good offensive team going forward, but will struggle on D in their remaining games.
Their run defense coming into the game was terrible, yet the Rockets struggle running the ball because the holes were not there. UT offensive line has to be more consistant. As far as the G-man is concern, he is playing within himself and not turning over the football. Yes I would like to see Bradley and Finn get more playing time providing UT can put teams away early.
One more thing, if Candle can take this team to the MACC game, I believe a power 5 team will go after him.

Color guy was Dustin Fox who co-hosts a sports talk show in Cleveland. Years ago, he loved to dog the MAC on a regular basis. Now that he does MAC games for ESPN, he has a better appreciation for the conference.

Yep, he was a DB in the early/mid-00's if I remember correctly. He had something crazy as a vertical...like 43" or so.

43.5" at the NFL Combine. Still one of the top verts in the history of the Combine.

Fox impresses me. He always seems to be educated on the players, the coaches and the program history. He finds things to cheer on. The stadium, the view, always something. He's not Madden level entertaining but I can see an Al Michael's in him.
I'm not sure what penalties they got wrong? I rewatched first quarter and he was dead on everytime but I think all announcers are going to miss a few. They're afraid of dead air so they fill it with impressions of the moment I guess.

Mis pronunciations get me the most. They aren't the worst crew. At least they are familiar with Toledo, Because they do enough of our games.

Fox was guessing penalties on some given plays that I knew at home, what was he talking about. As it turn out, whether the penalty was called against UT or BYU, he guess wrong. Sometimes unless you know exactly saw what happen, its safer not to say anything until the Ref makes the call. Then you can comment about the call.

There was a struggle with the Polynesian names, including times where they gave themselves props on poor pronunciation. Some people panic when they see a long Polynesian name, even though there are no silent letters or exceptions to the pronunciation rules. And the team gives you phonetic guides, take a half hour to practice them before game time.
Reghi's schtick is always trying to sound unique or cool. It's OK just to call it what it is sometimes.
