2021 Baseball Recruiting
Tribe pick up a commitment from 6’2 LHP Michael Weidinger of Burke, VA (Lake Braddock HS). Prep Baseball Report had this to say about the lefty in July:

“Weidinger has an athletic frame with long limbs and wide hips and a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with an old school drop and drive delivery, short arm action that is quick, some effort to his delivery. Lands on line, hard fall off as he finishes. Fastball was 81-83, touching 85 once time, pitch has some hard late run and a lot of depth to it. Threw a hard slider with very good armspeed and late 1/7 break that was 71-75.”

Prep Baseball Report wrote the following about Lovasz back in April:

“Athletic projectable frame standing around 6-foot-1. Came on in relief for the first two games of the tournament. Pitched mainly from the stretch with runners on in his two brief outings. Utilized a higher balance point and a quick slide step from the stretch. Lands closed after moving down the mound with shoulders level. Fluid hand break and a full arm circle throwing from a lower three-quarter arm slot. Fastball sat at 78-80 and got up to 82 on occasion with some arm side run. Curveball was not used much, as he did not show a great feel for it in his short work, but was thrown at 66-68 mph. Changeup showed solid fade with present arm speed at 73-74 mph.”

A little article on Weidinger’s commitment, his stats this past season, and his plans to participate in WM’s Army ROTC just like John Yoest.

Tribe get a commitment from RHP Nathan Knowles (6’0 195lbs - Arlington, VA).

https://mobile.twitter.com/nathan_knowle...4220746757

Prep Baseball Report said the following back in July:

“Knowles has a strong athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short quick arm action. Shoulders are downhill and closed as he strides out. Lands a bit closed with some fall off and recoil in his finish. Fastball was 83-85 with some downward plane and a hair of late run to it. Curveball was 72 with good armspeed and hard 11/5 break. Change-up was 68 with good armspeed and heavy fade to it. Mature frame and feel for three pitches.”

RE: 2021 Baseball Recruiting
Tribe pick up a commitment from OF Nick Lottchea (5’10 160lbs - Centreville, VA). This is what Prep Baseball Report had to say about him on 7/5:

“Lottchea had a strong day at the plate. He hits from the left side with a short line drive swing, he uses the whole field and barreling balls consistently, does drive through the ball and has some power to all fields. Mature approach, kid can hit. On the mound was 75-78, curveball was 64-65 and change was 70. He has some pitchability and commands the zone with all three pitches.”

RE: 2021 Baseball Recruiting
Tribe pick up another commitment from Northern VA: 6’4 190lb RHP Connor Kolarov from Freedom HS in South Riding, VA (same HS as Kyle Wrighte and Ben Williamson I believe - looks like Wrighte’s father is the coach).

https://mobile.twitter.com/STARSBASEBALL...7029506049

On April 25 Prep Baseball Report wrote the following:

“Kolarov has a very lanky frame with a ton of projection left to it. Shorter, loose easy arm action that is quick, very easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and on line, lands slightly open, athletic finish with a bit of fall off. In his first inning, Kolarov sat 80-82 with his fastball, touching 83. He had some downward angle and a bit of late run. That velocity had tailed off to 78-79 in the third. Showed a change-up with good armspeed and heavy fade, pitch ran 70-73. Breaking ball had some armspeed and late 10/4 break at 71-74. Used the change-up in the strikezone and the slider to try and draw swing and misses in two-strike counts. Showed ability to throw fastball to both sides of the plate. Also has feel for limiting the running game, mixing up his looks and not leaving his infielders out to dry. His three pitches come out of the same tunnel very well for a young pitcher, tough for hitters to identify.”

Tribe pick up a commitment from SS/2B Luka Danos (5’11 175lbs - Hampton Falls, NH).

https://mobile.twitter.com/lucadanos33/s...5226872832

From a 10/5/19 article:

"NEB has a talented group of bats and Luca Danos (2021, Hampton Falls, N.H.) looks like one that will stay in the middle of the field long term. He is a well put together prospect that is proportioned well, with wide shoulders and an athletic frame. His first step quickness at shortstop is very good and he has good body control. The uncommitted infielder went deep in the six-hole on one play and nicely rounded a ball, transferring and throwing quickly to get the out. He showed plenty of arm strength to stay at short and the actions play. Offensively, he has a simple swing with good bat to ball skills. He stays short to contact and looks to use the middle. The righthanded hitter had a sharp single in his first at bat and has a very competititve spirit about him"

RE: 2021 Baseball Recruiting
Tribe get a commitment from SS Adam Quintero of Monroe, NC. Prep Baseball Report said this back in July:

“Slender, athletic frame at 6-foot, 145 pounds. Lots of maturation in the body still to come. High energy, high motor player. Plays with a bounce. Ran a 7.06 sixty. Good feet and hands defensively. Consistently works the ball to the inside left hip area with the catch. Active feet make for a quick transition as the hands funnel to the midsection. Showed an ability to make accurate throws from several arm slots and maintain carry when off platform. Ball carried at 83 mph out of the hand across the diamond. Right handed hitter. Tall and balanced with a vertical bat in his setup. Medium stride, working for extension. Flat through the zone. Average bat speed and good barrel awareness. Exit velocity peaked at 87 mph. Swing is setup to allow for a jump as strength is added.”

LHP Braedon Scherer (5’11 195lbs - Hockessin, DE) signed an NLI to play for the Tribe. Fastball up to 88mph while his curveball spins at 2800 rpm. Prep Baseball Report ranked him as the 17th best prospect in the MD/DE 2021 class.
