We haven't been poached since 2006. None of our last 3 coaches since then have landed a head coaching job.

Pathetic.

RE: Do you root for your program's former coaches?
I'm very wishy-washy on Frost. I liked him as coach, and I have a lot of gratitude for how he changed our program's identity. At the same time, the way he left was really **** - he was having meetings with Nebraska during the season including the night before the Temple game in Philadelphia; he wore Nebraska red into the locker room on AAC CCG day against Memphis; his crew deleted all of our recruiting data; and he actively went after our recruits. He also took the entire staff of assistants and they refused to coach the Peach Bowl unless we paid them extra for their service (knowing we had literally zero staff and no choice but to comply). They've also actively recruited our players to transfer to Nebraska. They even reached out to McKenzie Milton prior to his injury asking him to take a redshirt season and transfer to Nebraska. They really should have been investigated by the NCAA for tampering.

So it's very mixed. A lot of appreciation for what he did here, but he really lost me on how he conducted himself in leaving and how he and his staff have behaved since.

There's three coaches on that staff that I'd like to see do well - Beckton & Fisher because they're UCF alums who are trying to advance their careers (and frankly I think Beckton was disrespected by our AD in not being named interim) and Jovan Dewitt, who seemed to be a really good guy, and I'm glad he has apparently beaten throat cancer.

No other UCF HC has been poached. As to a lot of GOL's former assistants, I like Collins at Tech. He brought some really needed energy to UCF during his tenure. The others are mostly shitheads like GOL...Brent Key especially is a clown that we had to pay to go away. Worst OC in the history of CFB imo. I'm sure there's some exceptions to that if I thought through all the assistants we had, but Collins + Key are the two that stick out to me the most.

I get a bit nostalgic watching Louisville now. I miss the edge rushing game where you think there is no way a running back gets two yards and they toe the line for 12 due to good seal of the edge.

I believe Louisville beats Florida State by double-digits as well. I'll watch, or at least channel surf to monitor the progress of that game. I think App State football is bigger than one coach but Satterfield had been running the offense for more than a decade and we always wondering what it would look like at the P5 level.

I'll root for Malzahn at Auburn. It's not hard since it's easy to root against the rest of the SEC teams. Not passionate about it or anything. I rooted for Freeze when he was at Ole Miss, but now, I care none for him doing well at Liberty. I hope Harsin does well too. I even hope former OC Walt Bell does well at UMASS and former defensive assistant Tom Allen does well at Indiana. However, I won't be rooting for our former OC Eli Drinkwitz.

Going way back.

I don't like the Steelers or Ben Rapistburger but I root for Mike Tomlin. He was the rare guy you meet and know has the IT factor. Knew his OC and DC when they were at AState and his OC Fichtner was a super guy. Pretty neutral on Butler.

Freeze liked his coaching didn't like him thought he was a narcissistic azzhole who had faith in nothing but Hugh Freeze.

Malzahn sort of feel sorry for him because he's pretty obviously on the autism spectrum and doesn't handle human interaction well but dang he can coach if he can get the right QB. He wants to come back I'll be happy to take him.

Harsin was disliked off the bat because he didn't use the hiring press conference as platform to discuss faith. Laying turds vs Memphis and the Cajuns pretty well made him the guy people wanted to fire. One of the best human beings to ever be head coach at AState. Incredibly nice guy. Hope all goes wonderful for him.

Walt Bell. Great guy to interview, great guy to talk football with. He screwed up taking the OC gig with Durking at Maryland but to his credit saw things were a mess and bailed for FSU and quickly figured out he was going to be disposable for the Taggert disaster, was set to go to UNC but Fedora got fired so took head coach at Maryland a move that will set him back a few years. If he had waited one year, AState probably wins 9 or 10 in 2016. Blake was by a very solid account about to sign a contract with Baylor and making arrangements to fly him to Waco when Matt Rhule called and expressed interest. With two more wins for sure and probably with one more win, Blake gets the Baylor job, he's a Texan, a Baptist, and former player. One of the few people who have Baylor listed under "Dream Job".

And why not? He's from Arkansas, went to school in Arkansas, and seems to be representing Arkansas well in his attitude and demeanor.

I rooted for Eli at Boise and NCSU but even I have limits.

Didn't much like Lashlee so never have pulled for him.

The circumstances of Trooper leaving, doubt I'll ever root for him, and I liked him before he got here. I thoroughly loved watching him drive SEC fans crazier than they already are. They never could understand why their white as a sheet of paper guys with high and tight cop style haircuts would go in to visit a black recruit and get out-recruited by a black coach who has a college degree, long successful marriage, and two kids who live under the same roof. He was the walking and talking version of what mom wanted for their child so the obvious conclusion he was nothing more than the courier delivering money and wasn't even recruiting or coaching. Nuts.

Joey Jones, formally HC at South is currently coaching special teams at Miss. State. Not a Bulldog fan, but I wish Coach Jones the best.

Assistant is easier. Hey Bulldogs ran a punt back on Bama! Good job Joey! Then don't have to give a rip about anything else Miss St does

I've cheered for Chan Gailey in the various places he's coached. He was honored at the USM game with the 84 Division II National Championship TROY team.

I cheer for Neal and will throughout his career unless his team lines up against TROY.

Hal Mumme, father of the Air Raid offense, was an assistant coach at UT Arlington. He has moved around quite a lot over the years, including a stint at Southeastern Louisiana, where he resurrected that program. His "family tree" of former assistants who have become head coaches in their own right is impressive.

Of course, his own record is not as illustrious as those of some of his coaching disciples.

I've always liked former coaches to succeed...as long as they weren't a cheat and leave a program in shambles...we've not had that...must say that I've heard Arkansas State mentioned during a nationally televised NFL game when the folks in the both were talking about Mike Tomlin...and I liked it...reflected well on us.

I usually root for our ex's. Kind of had a hard time with Freeze at the beginning but came to realize it they do well it reflects well on us. We get mentioned as where they came from. Rooting for Eli unless it affects stAte then no. Good luck with NC today.
