The records are what they are and are what the history books will show. They show we finished tied for sixth but with a worse overall record than the team we tied with, so 7th.

I'm sure the guys have already had their fingers sized for the snazzy 5th place rings though. Will they look as nice as what the Flint Tropics got or will we go with something a little more understated?

Looks like fifth to me and without some Key injuries it would have been second. Also with Butler this team would have won the conference tournament imho. Now we finished where we finished but let’s not pretend we were not playing pretty well down the stretch. Let’s hope we keep improving and some of these new guys are as good as I have been hearing from workouts. I was happy with the improvements but disappointed in where we finished. I think this staff is aware of what they need to accomplish this season and where they were picked is lazy reporting.

If I recall, we split with the top teams at the end there. Certainly not the worst thing in the world.

Also had a pretty good conference tournament run.

With that said, Athlon has no incentive to actually do extended research on conferences that aren't among the top 4 or 5 power conferences.

The games shall be played to determine where we stand.

I’d say we finish somewhere between 5th-8th.

My top 6:
Marshall
WKU
MTSU
UTSA
Southern Miss
UTEP

Expecting vast improvement from UTEP and MTSU. Probably wrong.

Would hope we could put something together to be at least in top 3 or 4.

It honestly doesn't matter where we are picked at the beginning of the season. It only matters where we finish at the end of it. UAB Basketball needs to earn the respect from the media and that's done by winning games you're suppose to win and beating someone like a Kentucky, Memphis or Texas.

We can if, woulda and coulda all day but the end results is all that matters.

We were not picked to finish in Pod1 last year but we did.
We were not picked to make the semi finals but we did.
We were expected to crumble without Butler, but we didn’t.
I think last season was CRE best yet.
I really like our team and think our returning players can lead us to the Dance.
We seem to be very athletic and the new guys will add new dimensions.
Hopefully the bottom of CUSA is not terrible and we continue to exceed expectations.

I agree with almost everything you said. Except to clarify. Exceed the media expectation, we have not come close to exceeding or meeting fan expectations.

Get in the NCAA or NIT. If not, get a new head coach.

This, he should definitely be gone after next season if the year results is the same.
