MyBB Future NAIA, Division 2, Division 3
I would like to open up a discussion of any news about schools interested in upgrading to NAIA, Division 2 or 3 in the NCAA. These are schools that do not currently compete in either association.

You need only go back to April 2019 in the thread to get the current news.

The first post list were the schools are moving starting this year. The last couple of pages have schools announcing or who are looking to move up. New Haven is the latest from this month looking to join D1.

What about schools switching conferences within Division 2, 3 or NAIA?

I'm sure David St. has a path made out on how your local JUCO will turn to a 4 yr and end up in D-I

Boise State, Utah Valley, Dixie State, UC-Davis, and Cal. Poly were former JUCO that went D1. Dean College was the latest JUCO that went 4 year and joined D3. There are lots of candidates of JUCOs that could go 4 year and joined the ranks of the NAIA or NCAAs.

Is there somewhere you were able to locate this information? I am doing research on college realignment, the reason I asked.

I don't believe there's a one-size-fits-all source online. DavidSt keeps cabinets full of documents and spreadsheets tracking D2/D3/NAIA/JuCo. I'd PM him an email or fax # and he should PDF you all his info. Or he might invite you to his office near Arkansas Tech to pick his brain.

RE: Future NAIA, Division 2, Division 3
The info is all over the place. Cameron played football, but was also a 2 year school and did share an all Oklahoma Conference with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa between 1916 to 1928. Oklahoma stayed in that conference for 1 year. Oklahoma State left 1928 to be Independent. Tulsa left in 1932 I think. The conferences before 1938 had 2 year and 4 year in the same conferences. In 1938, the 2 year schools approached the NCAA if they can participate in the championship, and were turned down. 1938 was the year that the NJCAA were formed and 1939 was the year that the first NJCAA start sponsoring championship. That is around the NAIA formed to help conferences that had 2 and 4 year schools to compete. That all Oklahoma conference joined the NAIA because of Cameron being a JC. The 4 year schools seemed to be able to compete in both NAIA and NCAAs at the same time until 1956. Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma State been playing home and home football games until Okie State finally got an invite to MVC.
