Cable Modems DOCsis 3.1
of these 3 modems which one would you purchase ?
SB8200 ARRIS SURFboard
MB8600 MOTOROLA
CM1100 NETGEAR
they are all similarly priced
i have used SB products for years
my router is NETGEAR R7500 and my current modem is SB6121
so my modem is currently capping my rate

Netgear, only because an Arris modem gave me constant trouble that was solved by replacing it with a Netgear modem. I'm sure that I just got a rare dud, but my Netgear has been rock solid.

one of those situations where "your mileage may vary."
I've used various modems/routers over the years...from Belkin, Netgear, SB, Motorola, etc.
Now I have an Ubee, but my preference would have been a Netgear.

RE: Cable Modems DOCsis 3.1
I have had the best results from netgear, but their customer service is complete ass.
At one point I had a dsl wired netgear modem and I went and bought a netgear wireless router. Went through the instructions of setting it up and for whatever reason the modem would not recognize the router. So I called customer service. They would not help me because my modem was 14 months old and had passed the 12 month warranty... Excuse me, I JUST BOUGHT the router, I need help with the router. They would not assist in any way unless I paid for customer service because the modem was out of warranty.

RE: Cable Modems DOCsis 3.1
I have Spectrum service, and before, I always owned my own equipment, to avoid paying a monthly modem rental fee.
We upgraded to 100mb package, and all of a sudden we encountered wireless drops like you wouldn't believe.
Not only that, we were getting about 40mb wirelessly when it did connect.
I bought 6 wireless routers, to no avail.
I had a Spectrum tech come out...and he was stumped too.
Turns out my Docsis 3.0 Arris cable modem was faulty.
It would give me 100mb hardwired, but you put a wifi router added to it, severely reduced speeds.
He gave me a Spectrum modem/router, and we've been chugging along since.
I was relieved that someone else had trouble figuring it out too, I have a degree in computer networking, and this modem gave me several headaches.
