I hated sending trucks to CA anyways, but the money was good and southern CA deliveries were pretty easy.

California is tougher on cars than on illegal aliens.

Yes. Imagine how much money CA would have to help reduce emissions if they didn't have massive welfare programs for illegals, put their kids through public school, provided healthcare for them, and house thousands in prisons.

Let's be real, here...the automakers are not going to make cars that can be sold everywhere but California. California would basically be setting the standards for the entire country, and California's mucky mucks know this. We might as well not have federal agencies if states like California are picking them for everyone else.

Not would be, but were already

I'm unaware of any new car designed for the US market that couldn't be sold in Cali. Some commercial trucks or farm equipment perhaps. I know some generators couldn't be.

You don't know the half of it.

You can't pass CA emissions testing with the "check engine light" on. So if you've got a car that always has the check engine light on, you're out of luck. That car can't pass e-check and you can't drive it.

My check engine light ALWAYS went on whenever I'd drive north out of LA. It goes up to 4000 feet elevation & back almost to sea level within 10 miles. The high RPMs & quick change to thinner air are brutal on my little Kia. To get the light off, the car's computer has to reset, which means (for most cars) turning the car off & driving at highway speeds for 3 miles - good luck finding 3 miles of open highway if you live in greater LA.

Try googling it - there's tons of internet forums of CA residents frantically trying to figure out how to get their check engine light off.

Yeah, those tick me off. You can buy a conversion kit to make them normal, but it's $8 extra & the very fact that I have to do that to make it work is infuriating.
