I am the lead organizer for 10 of us (5 couples) going to the Vanderbilt game. We are all Huskie alumns, but a few need to get the Huskie fever and not worry about their kids BIG 10 schools.... drives me crazy.

That said, looking to have the best pre-game experience for the game- the 11 AM start is not ideal but we will all make the best of it.

Any ideas from the group? Take over a bar before the game? Try to set up a consolidated tailgate area? Nothing better than getting together with other Huskie fans on the road.

Thanks for any feedback.

Yuck! I was hoping for a night game. I'm just going to the alumni tailgate. Always a good time and no work...

Anyone going to the Friday evening event at The George Jones?

I am driving down with my adult son and we are staying at the Holiday Inn - Vanderbilt, directly across the street from the stadium.

The Alumni Association is throwing a party Thursday. Looks like a good deal.

What is the George Jones event? Have a link?

I think out group is going to find a bar Saturday to pre-game. Couple bars close off West End (The Local, Commodore Grill) some more a little ways off 21st Ave S.

The NIU Foundation is sponsoring the Friday dinner gathering at The George Jones from 7 to 9PM. I received a mailed and an email invitation, but, have been unable to find a link.

We won’t be arriving in Nashville until Friday afternoon, so the Thursday event is a no go.

I'm flying in by myself on Friday and staying with a buddy and his wife over the weekend. My buddy is coming with me to the game- no affiliate with NIU, he's a West Pointer. We're open to meet up with fellow NIU fans before the game at a tailgate or bar. We were planning on hitting a bar after the game for some victory drinks!

Go Huskies! Beat Vandy...

I will be in town, booked an AirBnB in the Gulch so it should be easy enough getting to the game. I'm all ears for what people prefer to do

My sister lives right down there near the Stadium...she drinks a lot and often. She suggested a couple places:

1) "Kung fu saloon" its one of those vintage arcade bars as well as having a giant sized jenga. http://nashvilleguru.com/54443/kung-fu-s...nashville.

2) "winners" https://www.yelp.com/biz/winners-bar-and...-nashville

3) "Losers" https://www.yelp.com/biz/losers-bar-and-...ashville-2

Loser is right next door to winners. Kinda one place but two. All three are about 1 mile from the Stadium

Kung fu is cool but fills up with an odd, pretentious crowd pretty early. I prefer Two Bits in midtown which is right by Vanderbilt and has cool 90's video game-themed drinks

Winners and Losers are both fantastic, definitely recommend

Red Door Saloon is a Chicago bar in Nashville with plenty of Chicago beverages (including Malort on draft) and the last time I went the bartender gave us buy 1, get 1 drinks for having a valid Illinois ID.

Also, please make an effort to try Hattie B's hot chicken

Last year when I visited Nashville Winners and Losers was highly recommended but we never made it. Hopefully we hit Winners after the game. 03-wink

I assume it’s a liquor dispenser. But the real question is: is it a victory shot or punishment loss shot? Cuz if it’s a victory shot I may be rooting for Vandy just a little.

If it’s an 11 am start, it won’t get that hot until later

I'll stick to Pine Sol from a dirty mop after cleaning a bathroom floor. With a touch of turpentine.

Honestly, we win, I'll drink it.
