RE: Official Game Thread: Austin Peay
Great to get the bounce back win after such a disappointment last week. Special teams were especially improved. Mitchell did enough to keep the bucs in it but I do worry about the position moving forward. There were many under and over throws all night with receivers having to make tough catches. The catch by #44 on the touchdown drive was impressive and rescued a bad throw. I trust Sanders will do what gives the team the best chance at winning but I hope Thrasher gets a good look with the first team this week. Furman is probably the top team in the SoCon and we’ll need better offensive production to have a chance.

Absolutely agree. With just a little improvement at qb I think we become a contender for the SoCon and with more improvement whether it be Trey or Chance I think we could be a contender in the FCS playoffs again. The defense is there.

You called it exactly right. Bucs cleaned up all the dumb stuff and looked very improved.

And if they get thumped by what seems to a be a good Furman team next week the sky will once again be falling. Just like in basketball Buc fans can go from one extreme to the other faster than any fanbase in the country.

The VMI loss is a very bad loss though. Fluke or not it will likely come back to haunt us. VMI is terrible and there is no excuse losing to them at home.

Although the special team play against VMI was a comedy of errors, last week wasn't a fluke. Bucs have a long way to go to be a good team but took a small step on Saturday night. Furman is a pretty good FCS team (legit top 15 team) and a thumping by them would not be unexpected.

ETSU has made progress but is still not a "good" FCS team, offense still not close to where the offense of a "good" FCS team should be. Special teams has been like a box of chocolates...

Just my opinion.

RE: Official Game Thread: Austin Peay
All we were looking for this week was improvement over the VMI game. We saw marked improvement and the team beat a better team than VMI. No one is under any delusion about Furman. They are a legit FCS power this year and we are a work in process. As long as the Bucs get better as the season progresses is all we can ask for. The game will tell us how far away we are from contending.

UT fans definitely win the fastest bandwagon jumpers....halfway through the first quarter.

It doesn't matter who your team is or where you are in the country. That's fandom.
