Agree. The bottom line is that the OL isn't great, BUT we are getting very good production out of the offense... 04-cheers 04-cheers 04-cheers

That's what Mike Glass & a good group of experienced receivers will get you. The lack of a running game could end up being our downfall.

We have plenty of running back talent. The run game problem is either in the OL talent, or the scheme/play calling. Don't have enough information or insight to know what it is.

CC did say in the last presser that they were not trying to run the ball against Kentucky. The plan was to spread them out with the passing game and catch them off guard with the run. Backwards of the conventional run to open up the pass. They knew they could not take it to their DLine.

The good thing though, is that we can use the pass to set up the run (as indicated in another post).

In today's game, the run can be used to set up the pass OR the pass to set up the run.

Eventually we'll get the flow going so that opponents will not be able to predict our play calling.

Dear Friends,
I just hope that as the game progresses, Eastern gets to look at second and third team players. Can't freshmen play in four games without it affecting their eligibility? Of course the way that Coach Creighton rotates players, it may be difficult to define who is first team, and who is second team.

Ken, you are correct.

This game would seemingly be ideal to have them play one of their four allowed games without blowing a year's eligibility.

We might also have some easier games late in the season such as AKR and Kent.

RE: Game Week: CCSU
Based on Alex's experience last year, while the Four-Game rule is nice in intent, it's not necessarily as easy to implement as one might think. Generally, true freshmen, unless they are superstar-potential players filling an immediate need, end up playing on the Scout Team. They don't run drills with the two- and three- deep players who make up the travel squad. They drill against them trying to replicate the looks of the upcoming opponent. They don't spend time running EMU's schemes, they run the opponent's schemes (at least what the coaches are able to deduce from film and want to focus on in practice).

Last year Alex spent the season playing center on the Scout Team. Toward the end of the season, I asked him if there was any chance he'd see game time using the Four Game rule. He said he didn't think he would because although he had spent the season drilling as a center on the Scout Team, none of it was drilling EMU's schemes and plays. He developed some as a center, but not as an EMU Center. So he said he was not ready to step into a game running EMU's playbook. He was familiar with the playbook but had developed no timing/rhythm running those plays with his teammates. For center and any of the skill positions, that's not something that can be readily picked up in a week, particularly toward the end of the season.

Very interesting perspective. Thank you.

Good points.

My only counter point is that the frosh RBs, WRs, etc. probably can get into the swing of things this week.

I hope CC spends less time on 'scouting' CCSU and give the frosh some more EMU playbook.

I'll be there, and will do.

I was in attendance for the scrimmage, and MAN, the new building and scoreboard are so impressive. The stadium feels so much more complete and modern. The screen is such an improvement over what we previously had. And it wasn't even running when I saw it!

Maybe we should all email Mr. Goricki and thank him for the EMU coverage, I did. He replied and was appreciative for the feedback.

He's an acquaintance of mine. I'm going to tell him in person next time I see him.

Dear Friends,
Any predictions on the game tomorrow? I'm not good at these, but I'll say 45-17 Eastern.
