If UCF and Boise State both go with no losses and both inside the top 10? Would they put them facing each other in the access bowl like when Boise State took on TCU in the Feista Bowl?

Not sure. Good question. I’m going to guess under the old BCS rules for Non-AQs they “had” to have both Boise and TCU in. I’m guessing the new rules say “no” since a G5 gets in every year no matter what.

What also would be interesting is if there is a season where no G5 is in the top 25 of the final CFP Poll. What then?

The committee would just select the team they view to be the best which is what they do already, since they make the rankings.

Not necessarily, no. There's 6 "BCS" level bowls. 2 go to the Top 4 teams.

So we got 4 "BCS" bowls set for 8 teams. Basically, at first glance, you'd think -- OH, that'd cover the Top 12 then!

No. It focuses on conference association, guaranteeing P5 Conference Champs First + Top G5 Champ. And with the at-larges, obviously no two teams can be from the same conference.

But there's a good liklihood they would get the nod as one of the few at-larges of the 4 BCS Bowls.

In 2016, #10 didn't get into a BCS Bowl. But otherwise since 2014, they have.

Thing is though -- yeah, you're likely going to get in with conference affiliations, being in the Top 10. #5-12, if you're 2nd-best in your P5 conference, you're likely in the Top #5-10.

Essentially, last year, they brought in #11 LSU as the 4th SEC team. Say things are lined up much the same way. Would they take #10 Boise instead, when #9 UCF already got their auto-bid? Maybe not -- although I would imagine it'd come down to all the talk. They may choose Boise to avoid controversy and having to change everything. Dunno.

If neither make the playoffs, but one is the auto-G5 team and the other makes it as an at-large, then YES, they would play each other in the Cotton Bowl.

But, it would not be because the committee is trying to "ghettoize" them. It's a function of where slots are available this year. Let's look at the NY6:

Peach .... playoff
Fiesta .... playoff

Rose ..... B1G vs PAC
SEC ...... SEC vs B12
Orange .. ACC vs B1G/SEC/Notre Dame
Cotton ... G5 vs At Large

So as you can, see, none of the non-playoff NY6 bowls have any slots for either UCF or Boise to play in, so the game would be in the Cotton Bowl. There is only one at-large spot this year, and that's in the Cotton Bowl, vs the G5 champ.

The only ways Boise and UCF can both make the NY6 and not play each other is if both make the playoffs and are pitted against different teams, or if one makes the playoffs and the other doesn't.

If neither makes the playoffs, then they both play in the Cotton Bowl.
