Troy won't be last place. I guarantee it.

IMO, Marlin consistently brings competitive teams to the SunBelt play. Is it an expectation vs salary thing?

Partly.
Mostly it is 1 regular seazon championship and one tournament championship in 9 years, plus never having beat a top 100 RPI team from a power conferemce plus having a losimg record vs top 200 RPI opponents during his tenure here. For half a mil we should get more.

I said it first. I just can't imagine a realistic scenario where that occurs.

I can't either. I didn't know a lot about Cross and his coaching philosophies previously, but he's already made an obvious culture change in the basketball program from an expectation and confidence standpoint. He has also gotten out into the community to establish relationships with the students and other people. We haven't had this much excitement and ticket sales since our A-Sun days.

After so many years of Ron Hunter's scheme, I still can't grasp a mental picture that we will (attempt to) be a dominant front court team. Feed the post, execute plays, and rebound. Pressure full court man defense running up and down the court. Don't have any real expectation in year 1, but my gut feeling says we shouldn't finish 10th in the league.

Add all that with three 20+ win seasons and the fact that he was a former player and had been with the University since the 1990's, and you see why his firing was universally hated at UTA and received national negative press.

GSU Arena hosted students for an early preview of their team. Get outta here bball haters, lots of excitement for orange round ball around these parts! 04-cheers

Jojo Toppin (SEC transfer Small Forward) impressing the crowd in his new school 04-bow

Nelson Philips (4 star local HS commit) doing alley-oop over a 6'4 grown man. Can this kid jump or what 04-jawdrop

Damon Wilson (4 star ACC transfer shooting guard) won the 3point contest. No shocker, he averaged above 50% 3s for the season last year 04-rock

USA lost to Miss State in a charity scrimmage 78-75. We were down 17 with a couple minutes left and had a shot to tie it at the buzzer come up just short. We’ve got some good shooters this year.

A high ceiling for GS this year. Brown graduated but Ike Smith returns from his medical redshirt year. All the mags are picking us in the top 3 in the league

I’m excited as well. ULM actually has some size this year.

ULM squad with ridiculous 3 point shooters and good size for offensive rebounds....? That sounds almost unfair...04-jawdrop

We go 7’1 - 260, 6’10” - 220, 6’10” - 220, 6’8” - 195 (Tyree White), and 6’7” - 240. Big size difference from last year from what many are saying is Richard’s best ever recruiting year.

is that the biggest SBC player in history? 04-jawdrop

so what's the catch? ULM held his family hostage? Richard paid off his mom's debt?

The tallest player? Arkansas State had a 7 footer several years back and I believe his name was Al Bannister. Think he was in the 7'1" to 7'4" range. Can't remember exactly.

I expect USA to be top 3 this year.
