That said, the Georgia Southern offense of 1998 and especially 1999 was just about the most beautiful thing I have ever seen on a football field not counting homecoming courts.

I absolutely love watching the old games from your 98/99 seasons on YouTube. AP might be the best Fullback that's ever played that position in the Flexbone. I miss seeing you guys run it. I loved when you upset Florida and ran for over 300 yards on a Nick Saban Alabama defense!

Well, I ran accross some interesting information while perusing ESPN looking for betting lines and data. ESPN now has a Playstation Impact Player rating that was last updated on September 5th, meaning it used much of the data from last season.

The method is this: "The abridged version is this: For every player, we compare his team's performance when he's on the field vs. when he's off it, and then we adjust for the skill of his teammates and opponents on every snap and consider whether each play was a run or a pass.

Think of it as real plus-minus, scaled 0-100, just for football.

Every week, we'll list the top 50 players here. After Week 1, it's probably no surprise that a couple of dynamic Alabama playmakers are right near the top of the list. But some of the names may surprise you."

Now guess who has two players in the Top 33 that weren't in the App - Georgia Southern game beyond the 1st quarter? App State. Guess who those players were? Jordan Fehr and Zac Thomas.

Jordan Fehr is rated at number 7 while Zac was at 33, with scores of 99 and 97, respectively.

The next closest Sun Belt player isn't on the list..

Please stop. You are embarrassing a proud fan base. You get your shot at revenge in like 45 days. Chill dude.

So what you're really saying with all of this BS is that the rest of your team sucks so badly that the loss of just two of them derails the game so badly that they can't win. The other 83 scholarship players are just window dressing. It's those two that make the real magic happen. Got it. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I can't wait for that game! Both teams have questions to be answered right now, but I believe both will answer those questions. Regardless, in this series the records and statistics can be tossed out the window. That's the nature of "rivalry games."

If we ever get to the point where games are pre-determined based on computer models and statistics, I'll find another way to spend my Fall Saturdays.

Agreed. I look forward to Hate Week every year, regardless of W-L record. That's why we still talk about the previous year's result even though it's almost a year later. One of us gets to brag for 365 days and then it starts all over again from scratch.
