RE: Creating the perception of a sold out liberty bowl
Dude there hasn't been a football game at LBMS that was not either a Tigers game, the bowl game itself, or the SHC in over twenty years.

No one wants to play a neutral-site game at LBMS.

They want NFL venues for those.

They're just sitting there empty regardless, there is perceived market value demand on TV for filling those seats for the cameras. Build up that perceived demand on camera, build up the demand for the product to fill those free empty seats, then start charging for those free empty seats after demand for them is there.

I think this warrants some consideration. I don't know about the "totally free" part, but you are right. Seeing a full stadium on TV will make more people want to be there. I say a min. of $5 tix. an extra 10K in attendance @ $5 per is an extra $300,000 per season. That's not chump change. And it could incrementally grow over the next few years to a respectable amount.

You may be right... but something is nagging me in the back of mind about Tennessee wanting to take any opportunity they can to upstage us, since we are now seen as the best football program in the state.

I was thinking along those lines. Offer free tickets for local Youth and parents at Row 200+, or wherever the 20k -30k empty seats average. If we can earn a few bucks on Tiger Lane from them tailgating, it's an investment with a positive NPV. But it's building a future fan base for Tiger Football to either play for the Tigers or fill those empty seats.

You don’t tarp prime, lower level seats. That would look as bad if not worse than half full seats.

We have several major problems: stadium is too big to create demand as is FedExForum; students don’t show up in either sport. In the 70s-early 80s we had 8-10k per game. We were given good seats on the home side 20-30 yard line but this generation is not as sports centric as previous were; the advent of all day TV of college football; the times of games.

I know TV pays big money for football but back in the day, homes games in football and basketball were always 7:30pm. Saturday date night for students. A lot of factors in play.

You rehang that TV yet?

If you, BWAjumper, and Snow White are going after someone, you really need something better than hanging a TV. It’s beyond pathetic. Good Lord!

Yea, give them away and see what season ticket holders paying over $400 per seat do next year.

Not a lecture, but I learned studying Economics about price resilience. I paid $80 a few years ago and now I'm paying $350 for Season tickets. They've priced me out of the market. It doesn't make Economic sense any longer to just buy individual tickets and sit among the 20+k empty seats

This is one reason why it won't ever fill. I buy 4 season tickets and I attend every game regardless of the opponent. I don't want to get beat by Alabama or little sisters of the poor. I will go to see Memphis play Alabama but will not stay for the slaughter.
If we get into a P5 conference. the tickets will be overpriced and I will probably have to stay at home and watch on TV. Just have too many people in Memphis tha don't care about college football. I have people asking for tickets all the time and they own a business, just too cheap to buy a ticket unless its some team they want to see and then they won;t buy a ticket.

Great Idea the 40 plus at the OLe Piss game was great.

I can sympathize and empathize. But I think just one section over from me (I'm in 101) is the start of the "Fun-Zone" and I think you can get $120 season tickets there, or something close to that. IDK. There is SOMETHING affordable that doesn't suck too bad.

It has to do with the LAW OF ELASTICITY in Economics. You can actually increase the price...lose customers but...increase revenue at the same time.
Elasticity is a measure of a variable's sensitivity to a change in another variable. In business and economics, elasticity refers the degree to which individuals, consumers or producers change their demand or the amount supplied in response to price changes.

That whole paragraph above is why America sucks anymore. The fact that businesses pay more attention to "the law of elasticity" than providing a good quality product for a fair price, and just make what you make.... It's disgusting.

Yea, give them away and see what season ticket holders paying over $400 per seat do next year.

Yeah, overprice demand for your product and see what season ticket holders like me do. I'm not spending $350 per seat and I'm buying individual tickets next season. I have 20-30k empty seats to choose from.

Of course, you know most large US companies are Publicly Traded and therefore they also have a responsibility to their stockholders to increase the profits of the company and the value of the stock. Those stocks are owned by employee pension plans, banks, individual investors, institutions and mutual funds. This would be one screwed up country if corporate executives said "screw the value of the stock....lets not increase profits and let's just let investors and the public take it in the shorts...we really don't care about them". And..those increased profits mean those companies pay more in taxes to the US Government and that means more money for government programs that benefit us all.

And that’s why China can destroy our nation in months. We no longer make antibiotics here (cheaper there) and have outsourced over 60% of all prescription drug manufacturing to China. They can send us toxic drugs or stop selling them to us and a large part of our population becomes very ill or dies.
