Suggestion - instead of having all our other sports discussions (NFL, MLB) in the dreaded catch all folder Off Topic can a Sports Thread be created to separate sports from politics?

It's not a bad idea. My concern is there is not enough to keep it there, but perhaps pinning the post would be more efficient. My issue there is, the pinned topic list is growing. I don't know if we should grow that to much, as in at that time... what is the point? The topics clearly don't belong in the general UNCW section because there's a number of people that simply don't care about topics that don't relate to UNCW -- understandably so. I'm hesitant to clog the main page with topics that don't touch UNCW. Off Topic was the best locale for them for that reason. I'm sorry about the number of clicks. Make yourself a favorite link to OT? I have a number of csnbbs favorited links.

I'm not shooting anything down, just furthering discussion on the matter. I would like at least more than one personal opinion on the matter prior to making any alterations to the status quo.

I would vote to unpin the podcast thread since the Beat and Beard is no more, the complaint thread since it hasnt been used since January, and the ticket exchange thread making that a basketball season only pinned thread.

In their place I would put the MLB and NFL thread from the off topic forum. These can be seasonal as well other sports and special events being rotated in an out as appropriate.

My thought process is there are a lot of Seahawk fans interested in other sports, but are like me and dont go into the Off topic forum. Could be a way to generate more activity and discussion

I also wish there was an option for more interation with posters from other CAA schools. We used to have some good discussions on CAAZONE.

I also like the idea. I enjoy chatting about those other topics, sometimes ya have to hunt for them

That option is available. Scroll up to the top of your screen and click on conferences and then in the drop down list you will see "CAA" There's an option in there for CAA Conference wide talk.

To be honest though, we lost a lot of that when the conference affiliations changed several years ago and teams with large followings all left the CAA (ODU, VCU, George Mason). Now we're left with teams outside of us and William and Mary that only have 3-4 and maybe even less consistent posters. But, to address that question... the option is available. EvanJ and a few others from around the conference are usually in there.

Okay, now that a couple others have spoke up I'm going to clean up the pinned threads and add some from the OT section that are used a bit more regularly.

I liked the idea as well, but I'm not a fan of making changes like that in a sort of unilateral process without buy in from other significant contributors. Appreciate y'all.

Done! I left the podcast thread there because a couple posters on occasion drop some good ones in there, even though we no longer have The Beat and the Beard. RIP TB&B!
