Tied at #272 among National Public Universities. Highest ranking we’ve ever gotten. Thanks Dr. Rudd!

Rudd is doing a great job, much of it is actually playing the game that colleges play.

It's actually #272 among all National Universities, which includes public and private (think Harvard and Princeton). It's ranked #135 (tied) in top public schools. Rudd has done a great job of getting the word on The University.

Tennessee Tech 272
MTSU 293-381
Tennessee State 293-381
Trevecca Nazarene University 293-381

Never heard of Lincoln Memorial.

I wonder if the FedEx envelopes had cover sheets inside that said "We want all the smoke". I'd put us top 100 just for creativity.

Seriously, though, this is important and evidence of the great job that Rudd is doing as president. Keep going.

Just unbelievable the years we wasted with Shirley Raines. To make it worse, she actually thought she was doing an outstanding job.

This is great and hopefully a trend.

Would love to see them build out a CS program and also make it easier for employers to hire (or at least advertise to) students. I attempted to post jobs from my employer (a large tech company in the Seattle area) at the business school and it so much of a hassle we abandoned it.

The problem for us and Dr. Raines was that it was a pretty low bar to begin with. Rawlins was mediocre at best...but at least had the foresight to recognize the importance (especially for the University of Memphis) to have a beautiful campus and Raines maintained that effort. Rudd put the campus over the top in terms of completing things.

Rawlins did not appeal to the media very well and stuck his nose (too much) into football. Raines was well liked by the faculty, but was in over her head in terms of media savvy. At least she recognized the importance of school rankings and tried to bring that aspect up.

Rudd is a superstar. He gets things done, has foresight and a plan AND executes it. Great with the media, great with the faculty.

The only problem for us is that other Universities are noticing how good Rudd is.

Yes; Raines deserves credit for really getting the ball rolling on improving academics - she just didn't understand (or particularly care about) the correlation that athletics also has with making a successful university. She also wasn't the best financial steward.

Nice. The most important ranking the school could get.

They already have a CS program. When I graduated from it over 10 years ago, they had plenty of companies on campus for interviews.
