Did you try and get away with touting a White House press conference as some standard for professionalism?
We can only guess this is a great troll by you, if so well done.
If not, we would suggest not using the worst administration ever with the worst press conferences ever as a template.
If so, maybe Norvell could scream over a helicopter or have an internally ugly admitted liar yell at the media to cover up for her ignorance then let her quit and replace her with a criminal who has done nothing
Sorry man, but in this world these oh so smart attempts at propaganda or bad jokes will be met with swiftly every time.

Please don't bother to share your low IQ political commentary on this site in the future. You will not come across as a big idiot and plenty of garbage sites welcome your low IQ political commentary.

Same for the "game day experience" guys.
I have a different take on it. I, myself, have tried the "nicely written e-mail" to various departments to our University, and a few other entities in the past. It doesn't work. They don't care about one email. What they actually respond to is bad publicity. This board, as limited as it is, we suspect is being monitored by the administration. You may not believe it, but I happen to think various sports talk radio segments over the past sum years have been actually generated by talk on this board.
It may not actually work, but it IS a strategy. Don't just assume the person who started this thread doesn't care, or hasn't tried other avenues to no avail.
Maybe follow Dr. Rudd's example:
Quote:But how to make certain those people actually opened the mailings? As opposed to, you know, tossing them in the trash?
“We sent them by FedEx,” Rudd said. “I can tell you, personally, I have never not opened a FedEx envelope.

I have sent many emails to the Athletic Dept. I have received the following responses #1 response is NO RESPONSE and the #2 response is something like DON'T BOTHER ME. I am not sure if that is anyone else's opinion of the Athletic Dept but.....it is mine. Kind of the I LIVE IN AN IVORY TOWER attitude. So...perhaps a message board makes more sense. At least the message is getting out to fans that actually can also express their opinions on a subject that is actually MEANINGFUL. Seriously, if NORTH DAKOTA has figured out how to professionally handle a coach's press conference....exactly why has MEMPHIS not figured it out???
We're good then.
I'd also try twitter, in terms of getting the most eyes.

The very basic point, that we need to do better with some of the media, such as being sure that the viewer can hear the question etc...
Is swallowed up by referencing the White House as a model, considering they hardly ever have much more needed pressers, when they do the press secretary simply yells at the media (enemies) and the main subject lies all the time
I get your point, and am sure those gaffes will be addressed, but I’ll take our gaffes to lying and berating and whining at every chance. The white House Press Conferences reference was properly off putting, and I doubt you were unaware of that

All factors have to be taken into consideration. I really think BOISE STATE is a better comparison to our situation....minus the pro sports aspect. They sold their stadium naming rights to ALBERTSON's and in a market about half the size of Memphis, they put about 33,000 people in the stands.

UCLA is not like SMU. UCLA should be a big-time program - really the largest university program in the 2nd largest US city. Yes, they compete with pro sports. But there's more than enough population and alumni base. They are simply a pro town.
Boise is no kind of comparison to Memphis. It is literally the only game - pro or college - within hundreds of miles. Our peers are really Tulsa, UAB, Cincy and other such, with a benchmark of Lville.

Football, baseball, hockey and basketball are all well represented in the Boise area. Boise State Broncos football is the local powerhouse but Idaho Steelheads hockey, Boise Hawks baseball and Idaho Stampede basketball all offer professional quality game play.

I have relatives in Boise and have been there many times. They support their teams, but those you list are like comparing Melrose football, Lausanne basketball, and CBHS baseball to the UofM. BSU football is the ONLY thing going on this time of year, and they don't have any P5 competition within 7 hours. How many P5 football programs do we have within 7 hours?

Does Boise have to deal with the number of residents who support nearby Power 5 schools? I would think better comparisons would be smallish (under 1.5 mill) metros with a *ton* of competition from power 5 alumni and fanbases. Idaho isnt close to any huge power 5 school, and Idaho itself isnt even a power 5 school. Seems sports wise Boise is the only game in town in a, granted, smaller state. It's closest power 5 schools would be in Spokane and SLC, and seem to be the equivalent of the distance to Auburn? (Assuming they even have a significant fanbase in Boise, which they might.) The Oregon schools are closer to the ocean. Even if they get a lot of interest, those interested have a harder time driving to a game, so if BSU is their #2 team, it's easier for them to stay in town, watch a successful local product. Our residents could drive to ole miss, Starkville, Fayetteville, and Alabama, in the same or less time than Boisians (? Boisites?) get to Spokane or SLC.
So perhaps Boise State dominates the local college sports landscape in a way that just is geographically and demographically unrealistic to compare to U of M. If a school in Sacramento, Norfolk, Richmond had the success that BSU or U of M has had, I would say that school. Birmingham. Cincy, Orlando/UCF, but they have a larger metros. Louisville if it wasn't P5.
Thanks for reading this stream of consciousness. Resume your day.

If I went to UCLA, hanging out with coeds would replace football as the most convenient sport for me to follow, too. UCLA football certainly should be bigger. But I don't blame them in the least that it's not, lol. Same with Phoenix/ASU. It is so much easier to forget a loss there.
