CAA MBB Transfers - 2020
I posted the following in the 2019 transfer thread but it really concerns 2020 and since it has now popped up in the 2020 recruiting thread I guess we need to make a thread for 2020 transfers though I suppose seeing this thread title appear on the board will give a couple people heart attacks.
From 8/21:
“Coach Howland is now following 6’0 Jalen Moore of Cloverdale, IN and Olney Central JUCO. He recently picked up his first offer from Albany.
Highlights:
https://mobile.twitter.com/lil_jmoore34/...8442947587
Speaking of JUCOs, 6’2 Remy Robert at State College of Florida, whom Coach Kemp followed on 6/12, has been liking a lot of WMTribeMBB tweets and Instagram posts.
No available scholarships for this year so the coaches are possibly looking at them for next year after they finish their sophomore JUCO year?”

Sorry about that WillaMary08. I knew you had probably already noted Jalen Moore, but didn't think to look in the 2019 transfer thread. Don't know how you stay on top of all of that. Thanks for your continued efforts!!

No problem, Tribeheart - I'm just glad people saw your post and discussed it. I was a little perplexed when I posted it that no one commented since Moore is an intriguing player and the option of bringing in a plug-and-play PG for the following year is also intriguing but I posted it in what is basically a defunct thread since all the major transfer news for this offseason is done so people didn't read it.

Not CAA, but ODU players Dajour Dickens © and Marquis Godwin (G) are transferring.

Can’t say Ive ever seen this before.
Sophomore point guard Kai Toews has informed the UNCW men’s basketball team that he is returning to his home country of Japan to pursue a career in professional basketball.
UNCW apparently only has 9? healthy players on their roster. sheesh.

CAA MBB Transfers - 2020
Pretty rotten to quit on his teammates, coaches, and school midway through the season. I could halfway understand it if he wanted to be eligible to play the 2nd half of the 2020-2021 season for his new school but he said he intends to play pro ball in Japan.
In a perfect world, they'd sue him for what they've paid to cover his time at UNCW...tuition, books, room & board, transportation to games, clothing, everything.

For what? It's not like scholarship money is paid in advance, they don't receive any aid until the season starts. Last year he was on scholarship, and performed all the duties of a scholarship player. What grounds would they have to get last year's tuition back?

I understand the legality of it. His fall tuition was covered by the school and probably all his spring costs, too. His meals, rent, transportation to games, basketball clothing, maybe tutoring. I fully understand there's nothing the school can do but he walked away midseason and the school footed his fall 2019 and, most likely, his spring 2020 bills. Students don't pay bills after a session.
He owes the school a complete season.
How about this: In a perfect world, UNCW would hold him responsible for damages.

Well, Toews *officially* entered the transfer portal, but is still exploring professional opportunities.

Not sure what interest they had, but Godwin is transferring to Hampton.

RE: CAA MBB Transfers - 2020
Coach Kemp started following @IvyHoopsOnline so potentially the Tribe will have its eyes on the Ivy League for transfers.
And while I’m here I wanted to post from the 2019 transfer thread the CAA transfers that sat out this year and will be eligible next season:
Delaware - JR 6'3 Reggie Gardner (NC Central)
Elon - JR 6'4 Jerald Gillens-Butler (Butler)
Towson - JR 6'11 Victor Uyaelunmo (USC), SO 6'6 Demetrius Mims (Long Beach St)

That makes sense, the Ivy doesn't allow grad students to play, so if any Ivy players graduate with eligibility they have to transfer.

Coach Fischer started following the official MBB accounts for Princeton, Yale, Harvard, and Brown sometime Friday/Saturday. Each of those teams have at least one senior with potential eligibility remaining (I think). Of course Fischer could be following those accounts for other reasons; he also followed Bryant’s and Louisville’s accounts at the same time.

He'd be a good get for us, I think. Dylan Painter put up similar numbers at Villanova and has been a solid addition for Delaware
