Easy to say now, but Cam was having an MVP-esque season up until he got hurt versus the Lions last season. While I can't argue he's come crashing down ever since, this whole I've been saying it for a while now is just makes you sound ignorant IMO. Cam is one of the best rushing QBs to ever play in the NFL, the stats back that up. As a result he's had a career arch of a Running back, I don't think this really surprises anyone. Cam's career is better than Andrew Luck's, but people won't ever have the same admiration for him as they did Luck.

Whoaaa, i look at Cam's numbers even prior to Det last year and i see nothing even close to MVP. I've been beating the Cam is over rated drum ever since he came crashing down after his ONE good year. Comparing him to Luck? Luck had a better QBR every single year except the one great year CAm had and even that year Cam was barely better. Cam had a chance when he could run. He's always been a borderline terrible pocket passer. Now that he's not running............... The only thing Cam has in common with Luck is their uncanny ability to get injured

LOL at the Cam had only ONE good season... Come on dude, he lead his team to the playoffs 4 out of 5 years and made 3 pro bowls. He had one historically great season, and a few other good seasons. As for Andrew Luck, he never won MVP, never made a super bowl, and was never fully vested in football. I'd take the past decade with Cam over Andrew Luck any day.

Let's be real, That Defense Led Carolina to the playoffs every season except the one you mention. Who cares if Luck ever won MVP? Luck never made the SB because he had NE to contend with every year. Cam led his team to the Sb that one year and then choked in the biggest moment. Perhaps he should focus on dressing like Whitney Houston and not football? He's pretty good at that.

LOL @ the article, an opinion piece focusing on how good Cam was for , and i quote, " The last 5 quarters" LOL. He hasn't even remotely close to Mahomes last year, no one was.

This says it all right here and is exactly why you can't talk about Cam Newton to some people. They let what they think about Cam off the field dictate how the feel about him on the field. You've lost all credibility in your opinion in him as a player

" His combined 17 touchdowns -- 13 passing and four rushing -- rank him third, behind Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes, with 28, and New England's Tom Brady, with 18.

His 66.4 completion percentage is fifth among the quarterbacks on the MVP list, which might be Newton's most impressive statistic, since he came into the season with a career rate of 58.5.

Newton's 309 yards rushing easily are the most among the quarterbacks in the MVP race. Mahomes is second among that group with 119 yards."

None of this is opinion. Cam was very good through the first 7 games of last season. I rest my case and we're not gonna change our opinion on him, so I'm done. Like I said, I've always been a Cam defender even if it's an unpopular opinion.

There is no doubt he's been good in some spurts, but IMO, the overall body of work just isn't there. And he's proven to choke on the biggest stage.
I've had this conversation quite a few times with a good friend who is a huge Cam guy. Even he is thinking it's time to move on.

I agree it looks like its time to move on, but he's had a really good career for the Panthers. People have never given him the credit he deserves IMO, and it's always bothered me. I'm fine with them riding this season out with him, he deserves that much from the franchise but if this is indeed the end for him they need to take a QB in the first round of the 2020 draft.

Roethlisberger out for the season. Brees out for 6 weeks.

Brady drinks his morning PEDs for breakfast and keeps chugging.

03-banghead

Maybe you should just worry about your franchise QB being out with Mono 3-7 weeks.

I'm used to the ridiculous by now when it comes to the Jets. This was already a 7-win max team. Now it's more like 4 or 5 wins perhaps.

How the hell does someone miss maybe 7 weeks with mono? Seems a bit extreme to me

Everyone reacts differently to the virus. It's especially dangerous for athletes who play contact sports because of the spleen. The spleen can enlarge due to the virus, and if it gets hit while playing sports, it can rupture and be life-threatening.

The spleen doesn't always enlarge, however, in which case it just requires rest. You lose some weight too so after the virus leaves you also have to get back into football shape.

Darnold lost about 5 pounds leading up to the Week 1 game, meaning he was playing with it without knowing he had it. He says he'll be back in the minimum time but it's not really up to him.

Interesting, i've had it before, and felt like it took me about a week to get back to normal. But, I'm not an NFL player either.

I'm no medical expert, but I'd take a guess that playing with mono for a week didn't do him any favors in terms of getting over it. It likely compounded it due to the energy he was expending, thus making the recovery time longer.

Eli benched for Daniel Jones. Another headline stating Newton has an injured foot and may be supplanted at the QB1 role as well.

AB cut by New England. That didn't last long.

Expect him to be heading to the Commissioner's Exempt List any day now. Pats likely cut him now so they wouldn't have to pay his salary; the Exempt List still allows players to get paid while they're on it.

Well. The big winner here is the Jets who now have Demariyus Thomas out of the whole debacle. Big Losers: Raiders. Runner-Up Losers: Patriots.

Bills are still undefeated, so they're technically my Runner Up Winners here.

04-cheers
