RE: The stupidity of the AP poll
People complained about the polls in the Sixties and Seventies, too.

Part of the college football landscape and a time honored tradition.

Yes. Heck, if anything, the polls get less criticism now than they did then, simply because they don't actually decide things like they used to. When they did, that's all college football arguments boiled down to, was how teams were ranked in the two major polls.

Hawaii is 2-0 against the PAC12, not ranked

It's stupid because you are not getting what you want?

Georgia is arguably the 3rd most talented team in college football. LSU is good don't get me wrong but Georgia has more talent.

And barely beating Marshal. They snuck into the polls way too early just because they beat a name brand that people thought was great.

Excuse me, but I think you’ll find that out team is legit. Especially our defense. We were minus our #1 receiver, starting MLB and starting wide boundary cb. A loss is a loss, but we aren’t a bad team this year.

I have never seen so many people be proud of losing lol.

Not sure about that. LSU usually has about as much talent as anyone. They don't have a Saban or a Dabo so they sometimes don't utilize it as well. But they have the same kind of athletes that Alabama and Georgia do. Just look at the NFL rosters and recruiting rankings.

Well that's a good thing because that's about how long it would take to understand what he was saying. I like Coach O, I'm happy for L.S.U., but I pity whoever has to interview him. He's perfectly understood in the Bayou but not so much elsewhere and I do have some experience with talking to Cajuns.

When he's on the tube my wife will come to the set. She wants to see how many words can she can pick out. Many times I have to say to her, "What Coach O is saying is.........." Now when he speaks slowly you can get it all easily and he sounds a bit like he growls when he speaks. But when he gets excited and speaks rapidly it can be a challenge.

You should just add Ohio St as your favorite team alongside USC and Alabama. That way, you'll cover the blueblood of 3 regions.

RE: The stupidity of the AP poll
There's no point in holding back the AP/coaches polls' until October or whenever, because that vacuum will inevitably and quickly filled by other rankings. As it is, ESPN, CBS and Sports Illustrated, among others, run contemporaneous power rankings, and I see no incentive for them not to do so even if the "official" polls don't launch until the first CFP rankings come out. Plus there's Nolan, Sagarin and RPI ratings, and reporters are probably keeping their own rankings whether they're part of AP's poll or not. Besides, there's rarely major differences between the first CFP rankings and the AP or coaches' polls anyway.

This is garbage ^^^

You should be ranking teams by their actual on-the-field performance, and by the competition they played

Georgia hasn't played anyone worth a damn. Beating Murray State shows us absolutely nothing, as most FBS teams would beat Murray State

Georgia gets a media pass for two close LOSSES against Alabama. They got beat by Texas last year, they got smoked by LSU. Having them above LSU right now is laughable

Try again Trojan boy

Not entirely so. Until the CFP poll comes out - which is most of the season - teams that are ranked in the AP/Coaches polls do tend to get more publicity. Just look at the college football scoreboards on any sports website, and on the scrolls that go under the games on any network - it's usually "top 25". Same with the various highlights shows.

So if you are ranked in the human polls, at least until mid-October or so, that does garner publicity and exposure.
