Utah and tonight yes. ISU he was in the pocket and the ball was tipped at the line I believe.

ISU is a div 1aa team.

Not representative of MACaction.

Top 20 FCS teams would be competitive in the MAC

let's "lick our wounds" during the bye week and get after Vandy. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep. Goodnight Huskies.

We have serious issues with our OL. I'm not sure how much offense and scoring you can do when you can't run or pass block. How can you be 2nd and goal and not get one yard for a TD on 3 plays?

Where do you expect that to come from? I think the trading deadline has passed and nothing on the waiver wire.

Well said.

I’m sure there are a couple guys that could be more competitive sitting on the bench. Give them a shot. What do you have to lose at this point? There are always a couple guys who are overlooked in any program.

If NIU qb could have hit those 2 long balls early it would have made it interesting.

Husker d-line is damn good and their lb group played well. NIU offensive line looked tired.

From our seats it was amazing how much bigger the Husker team has gotten in the last 2 years.

Had some nice interaction with NIU fans. Having gotten my undergrad at UNL and masters at NIU I was having some fun playing both sides.

Hopefully NIU can regroup but they’ve got some work to do. Huskers still aren’t going to win the west but they will go bowling.

I had a bad feeling about this game and it played out. One of those games where anything grey or 50/50 did not go our way even once. Even though we got crushed it still felt better than some of the Carey beat downs we had. We were close and showed some promise at times, but could not put things away. This one will not bother me too bad- chalk it up to entire new coaching staff and missing a few opportunities to make it interesting. We have a bright future

This game will be a footnote when NIU takes Nashvegas and beats Vanderbilt.

Perhaps, however by the second half if not before we were down 5 starters on defense which is nearly half our starting defense. I wonder how badly banged up we are and how soon these guys can play at full speed again.

Both teams especially NIU set special teams football back about 50 years with that showing. Good lord that was ugly. Huskers stabilized it somewhat but NIU was just pathetic.

The top 4 FCS teams might give any MAC team a good game.
True the top 20 couldbeatvMAC bottom feeders, but unfortunately so could the bottom feeders of any other Div 1a conference.

Truthfully I do not follow FCS that much, but have been impressed with the few playoff semifinals and finals that I have seen.

So maybe the FCS top 20 is that good?
If that is true then the MAC of today is not comparable to the MAC of many years ago.

Div 1a teams still have a great advantage over Div 1aa teams in recruiting, however you will probably nearly always find great div 1aa teams that could knock off many P5 teams almost any given year.

If that is true as I hope it is ,then Thomas Hammock is a much better coach then I have given him credit for.

Better to lose to a P5 team than a MAC team in my opinion.

I was hoping that NIU would win, given the good performance against a buch better team than Nebraska last week!

I had delusions of NIU being ranked again this year, after Rod Carey's great win against Maryland.

Even if NIU wins out, the blowout loss to Nebraska, combined with the mistakes and playcalling will be remembered a decade from now.

I hope this game was an anomoly.

I would hate to see NIU lose by 5 TD's against Toledo this year.

Hard to be competitive when your rush defense, rush offense and special teams register maybe the worst game altogether in a decade!

Ross Bowers would have needed 6 TD's to win this one, not the three that might have been.

I would have been satisfied with a competitive loss like last week.

If a MAC team blows us out by 5 TD's I will be very very upset!

Anyone else on this board ,"yearning to have bouring, conservative but effective and successful Rod Carey for another season?

I really hope that Coach Hammock improves and does turn out to be another Charlie Sadler.

In my opinion he wrecked, a good NIU FB program.

Hammock inherited an NIU tram with many years of excellent defense and several MAc titles,
and seems to have underperformed greatly against an unremarkable Nebraska team.

If this was a calculated move due to injuries and traditional lack of depth and Coach is saving his team for MAC play then this game's blowout was acceptable. Since 2007 NIZu FB durring the regular season has performed with remarkable consistency.

We will see how the season unfolds.

Huh????

Utah opened at 80-1, still around there.

Nebraska was 20-1, now over 100-1 but still in top15 area.

Point being these were good teams, expected losses. Nebraska gave that Colorado game away and that was a huge game for the buffs at home. Saturday night in Lincoln after a loss , 2nd road game in a row, tall task.

The NIU offense has scored 36pts in three games. Vanderbilt is not good so maybe there’s a chance for a NIU win. What’s the deal with our running plays it seems like all we do is run right up the middle?

Wasn’t able to watch the game but followed on my phone so couldn’t see about injuries. What happened? Hopefully nothing looked real serious.

Definitely did not expect this outcome

Anyone have any post game quotes from the coaching staff? I’d like to hear their take on this disaster of a game.
