the Coaches should have LESS input for that decision than the fans. Their goal is NOT an access slot or for our program to be great 5 years from now, their goal (including Norvell) is to get their dream job.

Good thing our administration doesn't share that level of thought.

It's funny that some people still refuse to admit that the current level of operations is having quite a bit of success. Nah, we should listen to the fans because they are smarter.

If they are smarter than the fans, why is the liberty bowl not filled up? Why are we not ranked at this very moment @ 3-0? Why are we playing a buy game @ Purdue? Why are we playing someone like South Alabama on the road without at least a 2-1 in our favor?

And before you start, I know the answers to ALL those questions. I'm just telling you, those are the complaints, regardless of if we are having "quite a bit of success" or not.

Why DID we accept a 2-1 instead of a H&H or at LEAST a 3-2 from Arkansas? Ole Miss fans are already carping about how they will never sign another even deal with us because of that Arkansas deal. I don't know if the admin at ole miss agrees with that, but they have to answer to their fan base a heck of a lot more than ours does.

We will get a million bucks to go kick their azz though.

Hope that million is worth it.

Because it's a costly precedent.

If you "know the answers" why are you posting things that aren't supposedly your questions?

First we didn't accept a 2-1 from AR. We accepted a H&H with a buy game for $1 million. You should know that om fans are stupid and don't want to play us ever, but why are you listening to their stupidity?

You are making MASSIVE false front comparisons. Us being ranked or having a full LB have very little to do with our schedule. We are a returning 8-5 team, so climbing up the rankings is going to take time. We aren't a P5 team so we won't go from 2 votes to 110 for beating a ranked team (ASU), we are g5 so when we beat a ranked team we go from no votes to 7 (Temple).
We didn't have a full LB for ole miss because even their fans know they suck. They didn't sell 4,000 of their 9,000 allotment. I don't think it would be that much different for ut… well, their fans are incredibly delusional and think every year that this is their year to win the SEC, so they might've brought 10,000 fans and raised the 47k to 52k or more.
Southern was pretty much above par with most FCS crowds, especially surprising since it was an 11am kickoff. I heard people predicting 20,000.... To get 34,000 for a game that was on local tv so you didn't have to brave the heat should be celebrated.

I have said that IF (when) we live up to our predictions of winning the AAC and playing in the Access Bowl, THEN we will see a 5K jump in season ticket sales. That should result in at least that much of jump in crowds.

Don't you see the hypocrisy of saying we should only have a H&H with AR, but NEVER settle for less than a 2:1 with any lower G5 teams. I guess not because you have said that multiple times.

That says it all regarding rankings.

So now we DON'T want to play better schedules? I thought you were an "anyone, anywhere" guy?

You know as well as anyone the LBMS is too big for a G5 program and will never be filled regularly. As it stands, we have some of the best attendance in the G5.

Rankings? We've been ranked more in the past 6-7 years than anytime I can ever recall.

Times are as good as they've ever been for Memphis football. It's easy to complain. Heck, everyone not named Bama does it in the $EC. But unless you're new to Tigers football you have to recognize how far we've come, with the strategy laid out by Rudd, Bowen, Fuente/Norvell.

It is because other football teams schedule far in advance....

I don't see us as G5. I see us a P6. YMMV.
