Passed by the Sun Belt at this point to put the conference at the bottom of the barrel in FBS. I don't know if it's been this bad in 30 years and is the only reason why I think we have a slight chance to actually win it.

Hard to argue this. Terrible OOC performances after years of terrible bowl performances. The MAC has no claim to anything but the bottom.

CUSA hasn't done anything this year either.

For some teams (us) it is. NIU and Toledo are still able to go into (sometimes ranked) P5 stadiums and not trip over their d!cks on every defensive play..

You mean all those November week night games supposed to boost exposure and thus recruiting aren't working?

Marshall is very good. Travels 2000 miles to Boise St and plays them toe to toe. Hard for visiting team to win on the blue carpet.

If you look at P5 as a whole they have same competitive issues. Who plays at Clemson, Alabama,Georgia level every week? You could name three dozen P5 teams that would get beat by four touchdowns to those schools.

Lmao, i don't think Illinois has taken anything from us. More like Wisconsin...

I don't think there's 50 feet of crap between the 'worst conference' and the MAC.

Well its only been what, 15 years? I'm sure next year we'll start seeing the benefits in recruiting.

It doesn't seem like very long ago that the MAC was getting a couple of wins over the BIG every season, but seems as if the talent gap has definitely widened. AAC and Mountain West has even separated themselves significantly from the rest of the G5 conferences. Now it feels like that MAC Jolly Roger flag is futile and gonna be buried in a treasure chest for awhile.

If WMU can shore up some defensive woes in the next week or so I think Syracuse is a winnable game...

I don't see us beating Syracuse. If they get beat down by Clemson this week, that would certainly help though. With that said, I'll be tuning into EMU at Illinois and NIU at Nebraska on Saturday and hoping both teams show well.

There is no MAC program that is consistently going to beat P5s.

Key word is CONSISTENTLY - doesn't mean it won't happen from time to time.

Like EMU beating PU last year, or NIU at Nebby.

Is there going to be the occasional upset (see above)? Of course.

NIU beat 6 P5s since 2010 (and didn't play one in one season). So 6-10 by my count against the P5 in 8 years.

Depends how you define "consistently" I suppose-- but those are pretty solid results.
