This is exactly why college football teams should not be ranked before a game has been played. Why did anyone think a Nebraska team that won four games the season before should be preseason ranked in the top 25?

Or a better question: Why are these teams not still ranked when NIU plays them? Would be nicer to beat a "ranked" Nebraska team rather than a "bad" Nebraska team, which is exactly how they will be characterized when NIU beats them tonight.

Be ause they are in the B1g.

They often begin with as many ranked teams as the SEC, then lose them as the season progresses.
