They have won all of the recent match ups so I'm not shocked it's friendly...
it won't be friendly if little brother doesn't know his place at some point and beats them.
The nailbitter at PBS has taught them only home games in Ohio. I don't see them playing an away game in Ohio in the next 100 years.

What did the state government do to help Ohio State? I keep reading the comments that are squeezed into posts, but I don't recall the incident.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the basketball series will be extended. It really should be. Football, I doubt. They'll sell almost as many tickets playing the worst MAC teams pre-conference and won't have to break a sweat. Why be challenged by the kind of program Fickell is building when OSU can continue to tout their "sterling record" against in-state opponents?
That UC loss to them @ PBS is still haunting.

Because to make the playoffs, winning against good opponents is a plus. The SEC can point to their tough league schedule and play a couple of cupcakes. Not many others can get away with that.
I would not be surprised if "no cupcake" trends higher in future playoff decisions.

Ohio State is one of those others. Look at the biggest brand names in college football: if they run the table they are guaranteed a spot in the playoff. The only exception to this is if there are more than 4 undefeated P5 teams which is rather unlikely.
Getting back to the game, it was fun to have SOME hope for an upset on Saturday but now reality is setting in and it really feels like there is none whatsoever. Five years ago the Cats hung in there with the Buckeyes until they pulled away late and that team was nowhere near as well-coached or talented as this UC team is.
Maybe the Cats do get blown out by 30+ but does the fan base of a team on the cusp of the Top 25 really think there should be this much doom and gloom? I saw someone talk about the loss of Wiggins, and while that is big does one man make up that much of a point differential? If you think the Cats are going to lose by that much you wouldn't think differently if Wiggins was healthy IMO.

I do want to point out that this year Ohio State schedule is an exception. The TCU game was bought out by ESPN and moved to Jerry's World last season. They should have been playing at TCU this year. They had to add Miami to the schedule to make up for that.
Ohio State has always done a good job of having a marquee game on their schedule, and unlike SEC teams... they always schedule a Home and home and bring big brands to Ohio Stadium every other year.
I do give them credit for that as those games can easily derail OSU's season early, but they still go to places like Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas and USC. (even if some of those schools are not what they once were.)

As you said, it's unlikely there will be more than 4 undefeated P5 teams, but it's also unlikely there will be 4. So OSU (and others) are also targeting the playoffs if they lose 1 and still win their P5 conference or possibly even if they don't win the conference. That's where SOS and quality wins become huge issues of differentiation.

not sure i agree that the 2014 was nowhere near as talented as this years. time will tell, but i think that years offense was much more talented than this years, while this years defense is definitely better. the big thing in 2014 was the matchups. UC had the QB and WR's to spread the field against osu's weakness...their db's. osu had a great Dline that year but from the shotgun Kiel could quickly get the ball to our playmakers who had osu's weakness overmatched. Chris Moore set an NCAA receiving record that game! Dont expect anyone this year to do that on saturday. im concerned about our ability to move the ball at all this year. our hodge podge oline needs to step up and open some running lanes.
All that said, i do agree UC has a chance to win. osu isnt the '72 dolphins. They're beatable and with a new coach and qb we need our defense to hit them in the mouth early and often.

That really was an incredible group of wide receivers that even kept the Tommy Tuberville era afloat for a while. That game and the Memphis loss stick out as games where the wide receivers just repeatedly torched the opposition down field and kept UC in games where the defense was an abomination.

Bolded, you got that right. It was fun to watch that UC offense, but the points surrendered in both those games were downright embarrassing for a UC program that had a pretty solid defensive reputation for much of the past twenty years (Tub's regime excluded of course).
I don't see UC getting torched like that again tomorrow. But if the offensive game plan is to run Warren up the middle all day, and that isn't successful, the game could get lopsided in a hurry. Ridder will need to complete more passes than last Thursday night if the 'Cats are to hang tough in Columbus.

I was getting a little bit frustrated with the commitment to the run last week but you could really see it wearing down the UCLA D in the 4th quarter. Don't know if that will work nearly as well this week, but I'm sure The Truck will be running with a purpose.
If I'm calling the plays for UC I run a play action deep pass on the first play. Get the OSU offense off balance.

I remember BK doing that at least once on the first play from scrimmage for a TD during his time here. Can't remember the opponent that day--maybe IL?
Same play with the same result would settle the crowd a bit tomorrow don't you think?
