Cook 'em, Rice!

Good luck. I feel Rice is turning the corner.

Going to be a totally different type of attack for the Rice defense. Wake, looked very good against Utah State, passing the ball. On the defensive side they gave up a ton of yards, running and passing. This is going to be a good test on the Rice offense and if it was the Army defense or Rice's offense that was the problem.

My gut tells me that Rice will also be able to move the ball tonight on the ground. It also tells me that Wake will probably be able to move the ball in the air, and a lot more quickly.

Keys to a Rice victory:
bend but don’t break (see also, win the turnover battle by +2 or more)
Stay true to your offensive identity (run to set up the run, pass only to keep the defense honest).
I think if we deliver on these three stats then the upset will be ours and we will get more on board the Rice-is-number-one-in-CUSA-bandwagon.
1. Turnovers +2
2. Throw 20 or fewer passes in regulation
3. Complete 62% or better of them

Last week we were 7/14 in the air and outgained Army on the ground.

(I’m basically taking the run game for granted, but if it gets stuffed then we’ll throw more and likely go over 20 attempts)
(I’m also taking the lack of a place kicking game for granted - our starting PK was out last week and the backup went 0/2 on FG and ‘barely’ 1/1 on the XP.

Prediction: Rice wins 25-24.
((Against the spread though I’m taking WF -19.))

it was a fair tackle....once their qb went downhill, WF's db not only had closing speed at full pace, but he knew how that hit would erupt 5 steps before it happened...

I thought is was just just the shoulder at full speed....it's obviously much worse....

agreed...it's looking like another one of those cusa shootouts...

fwiw, the live-in number is wake -16.5...if they score it will easily go up....

I'm liking the points at some point in this game....it's just a matter of timing for me...
