Why I am optimistic for MSU game
1. MSU offense still looks terrible
2. Most of their points against Tulsa were from terrible snaps over the Qb's head or into the end zone resulting in TD's or safety's
3. Tulsa is a bad team, 3-9 last year
4. MSU also blocked a punt giving them excellent field position
5. MSU missing some starters on the O-line and starting PR/KR is out for season
I think with all these factors combined, if WMU doesn't give MSU any freebies(turnovers, blocked kicks, big sacks, etc.) then we will be right in this thing in the 4th q... assuming they don't power run the ball all over us.
This team relies on defensive TD's and ST plays, starve them of that and make pathetic Brian Lewerke beat us...

That may be the case, but their defense is going to be a monster. I'm more worried about us scoring than stopping them.

Need to hit receivers and get MSU D out of the box. I think Ricci is key in this game

I really hope our defense can shut down Lewerke, he ran for like a 50 yard TD run against us in 2017, that cannot happen. My biggest concern is our defense, we couldnt shut down a backup FCS running back. Our defense last year made michigan's lethargic offense look like Alabama, im worried that this will be the case against sparty. Their defense was also tough like Sparty's as well

I think two tight end sets could be a pretty special thing for us. Both can block, both can catch.
If you are struggling to match up nose to nose, you can leave the help in. If their D rushes 4, you can release them from the line. There is a lot to do there. You essentially have Ricci as a slot/TE hybrid and Borske as a tackle/TE hybrid. That is hard to defend for anyone.
Maybe not in this game, but hopefully down the road.

RE: Why I am optimistic for MSU game
Agree on double TE sets, could spell trouble for the Spartans.
From what I could gather Tulsa shot themselves in the foot with a botched shotgun snap into the end-zone for a safety, another botched shotgun snap that gave MSU a short field, missed block on the punt coverage...a pathetic two hand touch block on Tulsa's players part, fumble in the end-zone for MSU defensive TD (give credit to the MSU D line), and a pass that Tulsa's QB telegraphed to the MSU defender for an INT. Tulsa did have some great defensive stops and a few flashes of plays that gave MSU problems.
Tulsa may not be a good measuring stick of how great, good, bad or awful the Spartans are.
If our Broncos can avoid self defeating mistakes, I think we stand a great shot at winning. I am overall optimistic.
Will be a great day for football tomorrow.
Stay hydrated :)
