That's a 1.3 million coach making that decision and probably for the same reason he put him back in a bowl game, injured, hardly able to walk.... that was well past any chance of winning.

You must have missed the 2nd half of our game with Grambling today
True, but Tech fans never acted like we would roll through conference and finish the season with one loss, QB would win the Heisman and get invited to the AAC at the end of the year. UNT fans deserve some of this razzing.
I still think UNT will bounce back just because CUSA is so weak. I picked them to lose this game against SMU. SMU is playing well and was playing really well to end the season last year. If Coach Dykes has figured out how to field a defensive team then watch out. SMU is actually my dark horse to win the AAC.

There's no backup
Definitely an over paid coach. UNT can spend money like no tomorrow though because they don't field a baseball team.

Of course I think North Texas will beat SMU tomorrow night. My prediction...
North Texas 42
SMU 32
Go Mean Green!!!
I was pulling for you and CUSA. Certainly a humbling defeat. Pony has bragging rights until next year.
Haven't I been telling you guys that, at some point, UNT needs to install some sort of an adequate defense. So, now both UNT and my FAU will need to look for it, although, I have a feeling, we are a tiny step closer to finding it than UNT.

Sun Belt's an upgrade. UNT was picked pick by many to win CUSA, and they just got stomped in the face by a middle-tier AAC. We don't want em.
Just got back from a terrible weekend of football. It was an ugly loss to SMU. This team is not as good as last season's or the 2017 team. Our defense is weaker, and our offense was sporadic and struggled in the red zone. Nothing I saw tonight gives me any hope of a win against Cal or Houston. Littrell needs to evaluate his coaches and then look at his roster. We were beaten in every phase of the game tonight, and that is an embarrassment. Our lone bright spot was the play of RB Tre Siggers. I think Mason Fine is a great QB, but North Texas needs to take down his Heisman page. That ship has sailed.

Why would he need to evaluate his coaches? Didnt you tell all of us how UNT upgraded on every new coaching hire and it would make UNT a better team?
Its the 2nd game of the season and no matter what fans think. It takes time, real game action, to fit together.
Just as with FAU when they lost most of their coaching staff. This was predictable. UNT is still 0-0 like every team in the West. Guess what...
not one of them looks to be doing any better. As I said in the turf thread...SMU looked like they had a very good passing and running game vs Ark St

After seeing UNT "hold off" Abilene Christian in the opening week, I knew this was going to bee a tough year for us. And I was worried about SMU. Their new QB transfer from Texas was a good one for UT. Plus, and this is no excuse, SMU brought in something like 20 transfers who did not have to sit out a year. They were good enough to start right away.
Fine is a really good QB when he has time to throw and is upright. Oh, and one of our top receivers, he was blanketed all night from one of those transfers, from a PAC12 team.
UNT on the other hand, struggles to recruit good coachable linemen, both offensive and defensive linemen. It's been our Achilles heel for as long as I can remember. We may not win six games this year.

The 1st step is to have an OL coach that knows how to teach good technique. Leverage, hand placement and footwork.
Linemen are usually a 3-4 year process. At the non power schools you recruit based on potential, for the most part you won't get ready made linemen out of HS.
Lineman For the most part:
Freshman- Red Shirt and as many hours in the gym as possible to not only work on weights but also power speed and agility
RS Freshman- Game reps usually behind the 2 deep, learning the position as a whole new position as the jump from college from HS
RS Soph- In the 2 deep and expected to contribute some but not leaned on heavily
RS Junior- Should know the position and ready to start
