This rating is a direct reflection of recruiting and how bad we have done for the last several years. I know we have had some nice players over the years but as a whole we have done poorly. When you recruit bottom of FBS you get ranked bottom of FBS.

Hopefully things start to swing with the new stadium but right now we are still struggling to get the volume of good players that we need to compete.

Some coaches recruit well and coach poorly, others coach well but dont do that well in recruiting. Is BW doing a good job at either right now?

We will see how this class shapes up. If we cant land a class that is in the top 5 with a brand new stadium and new high caliber assistants, that should just about wrap up BWs tenure. We need 3 top half CUSA classes in a row to get back on solid footing.

I agree. I'm willing to give the coach some time to see if he can increase his recruiting numbers. But that being said, I'm not willing to wait forever. But, I'm wondering, who do you have in mind to replace our coach?

I've been saying for a while I would love to see us go after Ruffin McNeil.

Stop being so negative. This is 5 to 6 year old observation.

Just out of curiosity which schools do you think we should be competing with and beating out for recruits? Do you think the local talent should pick ODU over a school like ECU just because it's local? What do you think drives a recruit's decision to pick a certain school?

I will name 3 that I look at when we sign a recruit to see if they were offered by these schools. They are Marshall, ECU, and App. State. In general, do they have other CUSA offers or AACor Top So Con offers.

We should be recruiting on par with ECU, Marshall, and Temple in my opinion. Probably not reasonable to expect to beat ECU and Temple yet due to their league, but our recruiting should be in the mix--just as North Texas's recruiting is in the mix with SMU (interesting matchup to watch this weekend BTW) and Houston to a lesser degree.

All that said, I think the ODU stadium decisions have decided our upside on recruiting and I will just leave it at that.

I believe we all want a better football team. Our historical success is impressive compared to other startups. Now, we need to take the next step and get on the level with Marshall, App State, etc.

This measure is a pretty crappy one so early in the season. Its based on recruiting rankings (that they don't have for our level), prior success, and number of returning starters (obviously, this is a major reason why we are low).

If we end up being the 2nd worst team in college football, then we need some discussions.
