Pollard is a rookie and not yet gained a single yard in the NFL. And he was never going to be #1 RB or paid anything like a #1.

If he is productive as a backup, he is going to be a cowboy for the next 4-5 years. But he is not going to have the opportunity to demand big money. He won't get enough touches because Elliott is the best RB in the NFL and still very young.

So I don't see how anyone can perceive Pollard as a highly paid RB.

I don't see how you can make a blanket statement about his career the other way, either. Based on how he has looked; how can anyone even think of pigeonholing him as a career backup who won't make a lot of money?

I hope he does well but it is hard to get paid as a RB in the NFL. Preseason is preseason. 80% of the plays he ran were against players who are no longer playing in the NFL.

I watched the COWBOYS preseason games. The COWBOYS put in their first team for the first series of plays and then pulled them out of the game. I thought the opposing teams did the same thing. The remainder of the games consisted of players both teams were evaluating. None of the COWBOYS starters played in the last game and that was the final evalulation of the players that were on the fence. If it was something different, please let me know.

As a side note, Pollard signed at 4 years and $3.2 million with a $670k signing bonus. Not too bad.

The opposite is true. He played exactly like a typical starter does the entire preseason.

Very, very, very easily. He is on the same team as Ezekiel Elliott.

Therefore he is a backup, not a starter.

This is common sense stuff here.

If he turns out to be great, one of them will get traded and he will get paid. That doesn't even take injuries into account.

Common sense.

Zeke is already great and there is only a 2 year age difference between the two.

Almost zero % chance Zeke will be getting traded but one can dream I guess.

Nothing wrong with that 04-cheers

I'm hoping Pollard gets traded and gets out of that clown show, then I can watch his games without having to change the channel at the end of every play so as to avoid all the networks' sickening infatuation with showing Jerry Jones every second possible of a game broadcast.

Thats not entirely true.

He did got some extra reps like most rookies do. Most teams like rookies to get their feet wet in the preseason.

He stayed in just a little longer than Dak and some of the other regulars.

If Pollard plays well, and, does not play too hard to get at contract time, I think Pollard can stay at Dallas. If Pollard was smart, he will take advantage of the time he has under the limelight. He needs to work a lot with the QB, outside of practice. And, if he can translate that into an effective receiving stat, Dallas will want to keep him.

lol

Dak has already made 2 pro bowls

I don't see him as a top 5 QB but he is infinitely better than Quincy Carter.

if you'll remember, Bill Parcells was able to go 10 and 6 with Quincy Carter, But still he's not a quarterback that you could build a team around. We still don't know if the Dallas offensive line will be dramatically better than it was last year until we see the first game. Another factor to consider, as we don't know how well the offense will perform under a new offensive coordinator, who was never an offensive coordinator before.

And you are forgetting that they went 10-6 DESPITE Carter having an absolutely terrible year throwing 21 INTS and being a turnover machine. Carter was a TERRIBLE QB.

Dak has already made 2 pro bowls. There is no comparison and its rather absurd to pretend there is.

There are changes and questions going into every year. That's what makes it exciting.

My mistake. He did get alot of his snaps with the first team. Good for him.

Nice article.

Good read. I'm a huge TP fan and can't wait to watch him succeed in the NFL. As an Eagles fan, I never thought I'd find myself rooting for anyone on the Cowboys, but he changed that.

TP would have gone over 50 yards on 15 carries...but his two best runs were nullified by penalties. He looked fast at the corners and TUFF running inside.
He looked like a pro.

Very, very, very easily. He is on the same team as Ezekiel Elliott.

Therefore he is a backup, not a starter.

This is common sense stuff here.

Common sense would also tell us that football is a very physical sport and RBs take massive damage over a period of time. No telling what might happen over the next 4 years.

If I were him I would be 100% on board with the D. Williams treatment. Just enough carries to get a big contract. After that big contract is done, nice and healthy and living the life.
