6 years 90 Million is not crazy but the Line and the QB are more important...
I am not sure Dak is the answer.

A lot of NFL contracts are for longer than they actually play out. I'm not sure of all the legal details but they have the option to cut him and get out of some of that in the latter years.
Only about 50 mil of it is guaranteed.
If he burns out in 5 years they will likely cut him. If he continues to be an effective back in his late 20's they will draw up a new contract before this one ends. Not all RB's burn out early. Some are really good at 30-32 years old.

Tony's salary won't be impacted at all. As others have said, by the time he gets his second contract EE will be gone or only a shadow of himself.

Pollard is a rookie and not yet gained a single yard in the NFL. And he was never going to be #1 RB or paid anything like a #1.
If he is productive as a backup, he is going to be a cowboy for the next 4-5 years. But he is not going to have the opportunity to demand big money. He won't get enough touches because Elliott is the best RB in the NFL and still very young.
So I don't see how anyone can perceive Pollard as a highly paid RB.
I don't see how you can make a blanket statement about his career the other way, either. Based on how he has looked; how can anyone even think of pigeonholing him as a career backup who won't make a lot of money?
Very, very, very easily. He is on the same team as Ezekiel Elliott.
Therefore he is a backup, not a starter.
This is common sense stuff here.
If he turns out to be great, one of them will get traded and he will get paid. That doesn't even take injuries into account.
Common sense.
Almost zero % chance Zeke will be getting traded but one can dream I guess.
Nothing wrong with that
Great backs never change teams? That's good for a laugh.

Pollard did well in PRESEASON running with the first team. He showed promise...But let him do something in the regular season before we crown him.
As usual, you have a knack for not being able to read. Literally nobody has crowned him.

You know that is not remotely what I was implying. I was talking about him getting traded in his prime in the next 5 years.

Of course it was. In any event, as I said, if Pollard turns out to be very good, he will get paid by Dallas or someone else, and the odds favour it being in the next 4 years.

RE: Tony Pollard and Cowboys Salary Cap
I'm excited to see him in these first 2 games. I'm thinking he could get 10-15 touches if the cowboys don't want to overwork Zeke right out of the gate after missing all of camp and preseason.
Going to be interesting to see how this plays out early.
Both Zeke and Amari Cooper missed all of the preseason, so the offense could start off a little slow the first few weeks. If they start out hot its a good sign the offense is about to have a big year.
Dak was near the bottom of the NFL in 3rd down efficiency before the Copper trade last year. After the Cooper trade Dak led the NFL in 3rd down efficiency the rest of the season. With Jason Witten and Travis Frederick back this year and Copper there from the season opener they could be set for a big year.

RE: Tony Pollard and Cowboys Salary Cap
I'd like to see Zeke closer to 300 carries than 350 this year. 300 is a lot but not over doing it. He was able to sit out the last game a few times in previous years when they already had a playoff stop locked up.
If Pollard can have a big impact early he could get 100 carries. That would be ideal imo.
They have to be able to trust his pass blocking and blitz pick up. That is often the biggest struggle for rookie RB's.

Also, no matter how good their conditioning is; players that hold out often end up pulling muscles, having nagging injuries, or not performing as well.

If Zeke gets what he wants, and Dak, as well as Amari...Dallas will be stuck with those guys for awhile.
As Jerry has said "the pie is shrinking" (amount of money Dallas has to sign guys)
Tony may not have a chance to re-sign with Dallas after his contract is up.
Not really Elliot still had a year left on his rookie contract but decided to sit out instead of living up to his original agreement. So 4 years down the road means nothing since contracts mean nothing.

The 5th and 6th year of that contract will never be seen. Maybe not even the 4th. Some other back will get a bigger contract and then Elliot will once again go back on his contract and hold out till the cowboys give him a new contract.
Contracts mean nothing in sports. You can use them for toilet paper for all the good they are.

I can Think on ONE contract that has been broken in American sports over the last 20 years and that was Rich Rod leaving WVU, can you name another?
When someone breaks a contract , the other parties sues the hell out of them and they aggrieved party wins. If Elliot had broken his contract Jerry Jones would have sued the hell out of him and won.

TV and merchandise probably. I don't follow pro sports because I don't like the money debate. My comment was sarcasm.
The salaries are so high because suckers will pay $100 for parking and $500 for a game and the networks paid billions to broadcast the games. The plays get a % of the revenues , I laugh at the jealous people mad at players for getting paid - they are basically saying that they want the owners to pocket more money
