Tears is going to be fine. I still expect him to have a big season. Also, give hims some props for his awesome downfield block on Crawford's long run after catch.

RE: Spencer Tears benched
Spencer's catching mechanics have always seemed odd or weak to me. I find myself holding my breath more with passes to him than others. I know he CAN catch, of course he's had great games and catches, but with him some drops of catch-able balls are the downside. I really don't now how his stats on drops compare to others, my comment is an opinion formed after watching him for a few years. Wonder if any others feel the same way?

All that said, I hope he comes up huge for us and all year long.

Actually, I felt that way far more any time the ball was thrown to Wesley last year. Like he had small hands or something. Always bubbling the ball or catching with the body.

Tears is that dude that can catch or drop anything thrown his direction.

Tears showed some highlight film catches today, and one pop warner league brain cramp on a basic football premise (get that 1st down, do u have to be told that at the age of 22?). There's some coaches in my out of town family who saw that play and cringed, I could feel it their tweets from a thousand miles away:).

He's and up and down performer, but pretty interesting to watch, he'll have a good year if Bowers stay in there (stays healthy). He's a load for defensive players and coaches to scheme for, that in itself is a big positive.

Post game, Hammock asked about Tears play and said did some good thing but needs to clean up stuff too. Referring to catch that he should have turned up field and put head down. Good game overall

RE: Spencer Tears benched
Looks like I'm keeping this thread afloat. Against NU, Tears show me some real grit, his shoulder looked painful after a falling catch attempt, I thought he was done but came back for the 2nd half. His face showed the pain but he's a fighter.

Any one hear about injuries post NU? and Tears' status?
